    (people of mass destruction, those sunnis willing to slaughter in large numbers by becoming suicide bombers) friedman is back and better than ever with a damn good point about what we need to address in iraq

    Sounds like we may have to pick a side to support in a religious civil war. At least the enemy has been militarily engaged and at least in Iraq we can closely watch the situation and are prepared to act quickly.

    i think we have to isolate these extremists. doing so i mean we have to discredit them in front of their core constituency. make the sunnis realize these monsters are a major obstacle between achieving peace and prosperity.

    For a primarily Christian nation to attempt to discredit members of a Muslim sect seems impossible and would probably be spun into an attack on all Islam. Our govt. tries to avoid taking sides in religious squabbles in America for a reason. That same reason may apply to Iraq. I beleive our support must stay in the secular rule of law area.

    forgive me sometimes i fail to qualify what i'm saying. i think it would be wise for the iraqi gov't to discredit the extremists, not the US led coalition. my bad.
    very good point by the way, too bad we don't do that with israel.
