The Myth of the Racist Republicans

So who were you quoting?

I am paraphrasing the common refrains emitting from the mouths of modern day Republicans.

The ridiculous meme the recession was caused by loans to negroes. They aren't bold enough to say "negroes", but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know exactly who they are talking about, especially when ACORN is frequently mentioned, and Obama's lawsuit against a bank in 1995, and Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson. It becomes very clear these bigots blame loans to negroes for the crash. They are too retarded to even notice it was a global phenomenon.

"Food stamp president".

Romney and the bigots rushing to blame the election loss on Obama giving gifts to negroes.

The slurs against "community organizer".

The steadfast refusal of the Republican Party to unequivocally refute the birther conspiracies. This more than anything signals the GOP is now more about coddling the bigots for their votes rather than standing on principles and truth. The party leaders' silence on the birther issue is actually a very loud message.

The Republican Party is so blind and so stupid it has no clue of just how unbelievably bigoted it comes across as.

Non-stop attacks on Hispanics, gays, and blacks.

And the best anyone can up with is to point at the GOP of 50 and 150 years ago?

This isn't your father's GOP, kids. You've turned it into a pile of shit.

hey kon, this op is to fucking stupid to understand the concept your suggesting, just read his thread on the kkk or mine about the republicans needing to own it. And watch becki or guy or some other crazy right winger like lgs will come scream at you say look look the south was democrats in 1946 and nazis are socialist cause that is in the parties name, the dumb level by these right wing posters is at epic levels

the difference between the kkk and the naacp is that the naacp is able to practice their racism openly.

own that

they don't prohibit people in the kkk from marching and expressing their racism openly, they haven't shut down stormfront, don black and david duke are doing fine. What are you talking about?

That you even have to ask is a demonstration of the kind of blindness from which the party suffers.

Open any topic on gay marriage.

Open any topic on immigration reform.

Open any topic on the causes of the recession.

The bigots are well represented in each.

Republican bigotry is no myth. It is out in the wide open.

OK, let me spell out the problem with this topic. The constant charge of racism in our society (GOP or otherwise) has convinced many Black Americans that they will be held back from accomplishment no matter how hard they try. As a result, many do not try, thereby creating a self-fulfilling prophesy. Further, it tempts them to see racism even when it is not a factor, such as being turned down for a loan because of bad credit. I understand that maintaining a unified Black voting block is necessary to keep the "good" people in power, but is it really worth it?

Yeah..that stuff sits well with people.

Anyone want to dispute me?

I dont think anyone is arguing that the 1900/1960 south was represented by the democrats, what we are arguing is that the south was NEVER and will NEVER be liberal. What the fuck is so hard to understand about that. Use your brain. Liberal/consertive areas of the country have NOT changed, party affiliation has.

It's not your contention that the south is conservative that is the issue here, it's your contention that conservative=racist. That's a big fucking lie that really needs to be put to rest.

Dishonest hack!

Right, republicans aren't racist at all. :laugh2::bsflag:

some inner city precincts voted 100% Obama

Hillary only got 3% of the black vote

how much more evidence is needed?

Want me to post Al Sharpton's favoability rating among blacks?

Ah, so the reason blacks are not voting Republican is they are the real racists.

You folks are hilarious.

who are the " real racists" according to you?

Really?

You had Santorum, Bachmann, Gingrich and Paul running as Presidential candidates.

Then Romney was the final choice.

A fine bunch of racists there..you betcha.

Repubs oppose affirmative action so they are obviously anti-racist. Guess what that makes dems.

Didha know that the first affirmative actions taken was taken under a Republican President? I'll bet you didn't know that.
Cons put down affirmative action at every opportunity now.

It's an idea whose time has come and gone. It has done nothing but create the false idea that a black person cannot 'get ahead' unless they have a little 'help'.

That most blacks don't see that as demeaning only illustrates what a GREAT job our liberal education system has done indoctrinating them to believe it.

Republicans and Democrats did not switch sides

http://cache.trustedpartner.com/doc... DEMOCRATS DID NOT SWITCH SIDES ON RACISM.pdf

“These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity
these days and that's a problem for us since
they've got something now they never had
before, the political pull to back up their
uppityness. Now, we've got to do something
about this; we've got to give them a little
something, just enough to quiet them down,
not enough to make a difference.”
~~ President Lyndon B. Johnson

Seriously, do we need to start posting stuff from REAL social scientists, there is no confusion in the educated people on the subject that there was a realignment election that happened right around the end of the civil rights movement, look at the Harvard journal of social science, hell Yale and prinston say that same too, are they not to be trusted?

The Liberal Bastions of the Ivy League??

...and it's Princeton...

The GOP has no ideas on the table. That's why Romney lost. Not because Obama was giving free stuff to the negroes.

The GOP spends all its time looking for scapegoats. The "gay agenda" which is destroying America. The Mexican illegals voting for Obama, destroying America by soaking up our medical resources, raping our women, and stealing our jobs. Black activists since the Carter Administration forcing banks to make loans to negroes, which ultimately brought down our economy.

The constant hunt for scapegoats instead of putting ideas on the table really does make the GOP look like a bunch of bigoted retards.

Some truth currently exists in the OP today in our GOP.

That is why Jindall, Martinez, Boehner, Gingrich, Rubio, Ryan, Christie, Will, Kristol, and many other are turning their back on the far right of our party: no more hatred.

We will reach out to immigrants, minorities, stop pounding on gays, began prioritizing women over fetuses, and end neo-conservtatist foreign policy.

We are in a good place and in 2016 we will sweep government.

That's nice... and what about the money interests who control the party and force these retarded agendas? They are the true controlling interests of the Republicans and they don't seem to be going away anytime soon.

That's bullshit. There's just as much racism on the other side.

BlackGenocide.org | The Negro Project

A myth about conservatism is circulating in academia and journalism and has spread to the 2004 presidential campaign. It goes something like this: the Republican Party assembled a national majority by winning over Southern white voters; Southern white voters are racist; therefore, the GOP is racist. Sometimes the conclusion is softened, and Republicans are convicted merely of base opportunism: the GOP is the party that became willing to pander to racists. Either way, today's Republican Party—and by extension the conservative movement at its heart—supposedly has revealed something terrible about itself.

Ever since Nixon. They called it the Southern strategy. Previously liberal Republicans were on the forefront of the Civil Rights movement, but that changed in the 70s as they courted racist Democrats and drove the liberals out of the party. THAT'S history, folks. I watched it happen. I used to occasionally vote for a Republican, but that hasn't happened in a long time. It IS something terrible and something they going to have to deal with and change, if they hope to ever win a national election again. They did it again this year by alienating Hispanics. Will they ever learn? You don't create Reagan's Big Tent by demeaning vast segments of the population

As did many of us.

The intent of the Southern strategy was to break the stranglehold democrats had on Congress and state governments.

To that extent the strategy worked.

And although the GOP and conservatives are not collectively racist, nor do they pander to racism, both the party and ideology attract an inordinate number of racists.

It is therefore incumbent upon republicans and conservatives to explore the root cause of this troubling phenomenon.

First of all, in a two-party system where one party panders their asses off to minorities, where the fuck else would you expect them to go?

Secondly, this 'inordinate number' is WHAT, exactly. The hardcore racists mostly vote for 'fringes' like the Constitution Party.

Third, to call this a 'troubling phenomenon' is nothing more than making a mountain out of a molehill. The Republican Party isn't DOING anything racist, they aren't PROPOSING anything racist and the VAST majority don't SUPPORT anything racist.

You obviously haven't been paying attention.

Voter ID is racist.

Bashing gays is bigoted. Denying them equal protection of the laws is bigoted.

What do you call it when a white family with a credit score of 500 applies for and receives a loan, but a black family, with the same score and stats, is refused?
