Why do Americans care about media presentations of outlandish courage, handsomeness, intelligence, charm (etc.)? Perhaps it's because democracy encourages dialogue about the recruiting of social leaders, celebrities, diplomats, etc.

Halloween is so festive in the USA, since Americans like dressing up and celebrating America's appreciation of self-presentation and masquerading humanity.

The George Michael vanity-themed song Freedom speaks to this American consciousness as does the Marvel Comics superhero Captain America (both posted below).

What makes Bill Clinton an appealing but scandalous American 'celebrity'? What makes Michael Jackson an eccentric but recognized 'media-star'?

It's all about dystopia...

CARTER: Not if you're a fan of Halloween...
TRUMP: Facebook has changed everything...
CARTER: Terrorists will target Facebook now as Internet-hackers.
TRUMP: The best way to counter that is with tech-infrastructure investments (e.g., Norton software).
CARTER: Maybe people will start talking about the 'appearance' of 'evil computers.'
