Obama himself said he would purposely drive oil prices so high that people would have no choice but to stop driving cars.

Oil prices were very depressed under Bush. During the Obama years the ppb went high so companies invested in rigs, exploration and drilling. Production doubled and the rig count was higher than it has been in 44 years.

Obama didn't cause that. It's driven by market demand and price per barrel.

Fracking helped, but most US wells produce less than 50 barrels a day. They can't afford gas injection or fracking. We have no economies of scale. .... and the highest production costs in the world.
