One of two things was true, either Jesus was the son of God complete with power to heal, or he was a total fraud, had no powers, and was just a man who lied a lot....

THE EVIDENCE....

Clearly, his disciples knew whether Jesus was a fraud or not, as they were the ones who "observed" all his "miracles." Two disciples saw Jesus walk on water, but when everyone was watching, Jesus sunk right to the bottom meeting John the Baptist. In place at the time is the Old Testament, so the following logic applies...

GOD controls whether or not you go to Heaven or Hell.

If you believe this guy is GOD's son, do you betray him???

Judas did. Did Judas do that knowing Jesus was really the Son of God, or did Judas do that because Judas knew Jesus was a fraud and did not want to end up on a cross next to him. All the disciples betray Jesus when the "cops" arrest him. They deny they knew him, all offenses against God's son that God would clearly know about....

IF Jesus was really healing people left and right, he would've been really popular. But he was clearly a lot less popular than Barabbas.....

and why is he running from the authorities??

This is the Son of God. Why FEAR??? Why RUN??? If you are the son of God, show them.....

and then his trial proved Judas correct.... that he was just a man, and died on the cross like a man, in the time of a man, as he aged during his life like a man....

and even the blood on the Shroud of Turin is HUMAN blood, product of HUMAN MAN AND WOMAN.....

Im agnostic, so nothing but honesty.. but im pretty sure that wasnt saying stars are the same size as fig tree leaves.

Without getting into whether or not Jesus was mad or not (there are some interesting incidents to consider in that vein), let us look at the situation then and the situation now.
In the days of Jesus, Israel was a kingdom and had its own government, but only in name. Rome dominated and dictated as much as they could. As far as religion went, that they chose not to bother with much. Jews were not persecuted as such.
There was a large movement, however, in favor of Israel regaining its status and power with a new reign guided by a religious standard. It was believed 'God' would send a savior to assure the success of this event. Perhaps the most vocal of the populace desired that this event occur sooner than later. Perhaps they wanted to force 'God's' hand, cause 'God' to carry out what was perceived as a promise. Maybe they believed Jesus, maybe they didn't, but in any case, if he were what he said, getting the Romans to kill him would certainly bring divine intervention.
Today, we hear that some people believe 'God' is about to intervene in favor of a religious standard they hold. It looks as if they might be prepared to provoke a worldly situation in such a way as to bring about their prophecy (making it somewhat self fulfilling).
Have things, people, really changed that much? Has humanity advanced intellectually, spiritually or morally since then, since even way before then?

Depends upon the distance of the observer from the observed.
Is the moon the same size as the sun?

Einstein Letter Warning Of
Zionist Facism In Israel
Letter That Albert Einstein Sent to the New York Times
1948, Protesting the Visit of Menachem Begin

Letters to the Editor
New York Times
December 4, 1948
TO THE EDITORS OF THE NEW YORK TIMES:
Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the "Freedom Party" (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.
einstein.jpg
The current visit of Menachem Begin, leader of this party, to the United States is obviously calculated to give the impression of American support for his party in the coming Israeli elections, and to cement political ties with conservative Zionist elements in the United States. Several Americans of national repute have lent their names to welcome his visit. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughoutthe world, if correctly informed as to Mr. Begin's political record and perspectives, could add their names and support to the movement he represents.
Before irreparable damage is done by way of financial contributions, public manifestations in Begin's behalf, and the creation in Palestine of the impression that a large segment of America supports Fascist elements in Israel, the American public must be informed as to the record and objectives of Mr. Begin and his movement. The public avowals of Begin's party are no guide whatever to its actual character. Today they speak of freedom, democracy and anti-imperialism, whereas until recently they openly preached the doctrine of the Fascist state. It is in its actions that the terrorist party betrays its real character; from its past actions we can judge what it may be expected to do in the future.
Attack on Arab Village
A shocking example was their behavior in the Arab village of Deir Yassin. This village, off the main roads and surrounded by Jewish lands, had taken no part in the war, and had even fought off Arab bands who wanted to use the village as their base. On April 9 (THE NEW YORK TIMES), terrorist bands attacked this peaceful village, which was not a military objective in the fighting, killed most of its inhabitants ? 240men, women, and children - and kept a few of them alive to parade as captives through the streets of Jerusalem. Most of the Jewish community was horrified at the deed, and the Jewish Agency sent a telegram of apology to King Abdullah of Trans-Jordan. But the terrorists, far from being ashamed of their act, were proud of this massacre, publicized it widely, and invited all the foreign correspondents present in the country to view the heaped corpses and the general havoc at Deir Yassin. The Deir Yassin incident exemplifies the character and actions of the Freedom Party.
Within the Jewish community they have preached an admixture of ultranationalism, religious mysticism, and racial superiority. Like other Fascist parties they have been used to break strikes, and have themselves pressed for the destruction of free trade unions. In their stead they have proposed corporate unions on the Italian Fascist model. During the last years of sporadic anti-British violence, the IZL and Stern groups inaugurated a reign of terror in the Palestine Jewish community. Teachers were beaten up for speaking against them, adults were shot for not letting their children join them. By gangster methods, beatings, window-smashing, and wide-spread robberies, the terrorists intimidated the population and exacted a heavy tribute.
The people of the Freedom Party have had no part in the constructive achievements in Palestine. They have reclaimed no land, built no settlements, and only detracted from the Jewish defense activity. Their much-publicized immigration endeavors were minute, and devoted mainly to bringing in Fascist compatriots.
Discrepancies Seen
The discrepancies between the bold claims now being made by Begin and his party, and their record of past performance in Palestine bear the imprint of no ordinary political party. This is the unmistakable stamp of a Fascist party for whom terrorism (against Jews, Arabs, and British alike), and misrepresentation are means, and a "Leader State" is the goal.
In the light of the foregoing considerations, it is imperative that the truth about Mr. Begin and his movement be made known in this country. It is all the more tragic that the top leadership of American Zionism has refused to campaign against Begin's efforts, or even to expose to its own constituents the dangers to Israel from support to Begin.
The undersigned therefore take this means of publicly presenting a few salient facts concerning Begin and his party; and of urging all concerned not to support this latest manifestation of fascism.

Depends upon the distance of the observer from the observed.

In other words, God isn't "wrong" in Revelation, because "and the stars fell from the sky like fig leafs..." really is true.... even if the smallest known star is 10 times the size of Jupiter... which is a lot larger than Earth.....

Face it, "God" in Revelation thinks a star is very small and that Earth could have many land on Earth's surface at any time.....

indeed. I think it was comparing "motion"(?) not size.
They were probably speaking of asteroids

Good point (cough cough), especially since the "author" (God) initially stated that everything was orbiting Earth, including the Sun...

Putting Galileo in prison didn't stop that truth from eventually boiling over....

and the Bible was changed, and its changed version is now 100% true, even if its first version was not.....

cough cough....

Face it! 'God' would be the ultimate quantum mechanic, after all. Certainly, such a One could fix things to work as desired.

One of two things was true, either Jesus was the son of God complete with power to heal, or he was a total fraud, had no powers, and was just a man who lied a lot....
Or... He was a man who lived and died but wrote nothing down. Everything we know about him comes from his, mostly illiterate, followers via oral tales written down decades after Jesus died. Men who, probably never even met Jesus. It is easy to see how the stories evolved into Christianity, the religion about Jesus, but not the religion of Jesus.

It is a fascinating thing that Jesus, educated and literate, left no writings we know of apart from something done in the dust.
Neither did Buddha.

I see, so the disciples gave their own lives for a scam.

Thanks for playing.
