The Democratic Party left me behind — and I’m not alone

The US has a problem. Not enough political parties in power.

In Germany there are six parties. Each of them from a different part of the political spectrum.

You have traditional right, traditional left, center right, further left, further right and environmental left.

The German people have a choice of who they want to represent them.

In the US it's some kind of left and some kind of right which doesn't fit well with most people. Were the US to have a PROPER electoral system that gave people POSITIVE VOTING instead of negative voting, then people wouldn't get left behind by two corporate monstrosities of "political parties", they'd actually get represented by people who would represent them, rather than the rich.

Time for Proportional Representation.

Meh…HRC got 3,000,000 more votes than the blob and this was before the payments to porn stars, before he started kidnapping kids, before 1 year olds have to defend themselves at immigration hearings without a lawyer, before the Mueller investigation, all of the indictments of his henchmen, all of the sleaze, before all of the discord in his administration….

I think the Dems can shed some votes.

What is the old saying? Either Mohammed moves to the mountain or the mountain moves to Mohammed. Usually the former happens; not the latter.

The question is, who is the mountain and who is Mohammed? Right now the parties are the mountain. But slowly, the voters are becoming the mountain and the parties are going to have to move toward them.

Well, if the people were as independent as they think they are, they'd want Proportional Representation. But most don't. Even on political forums most people reject it.

Why? Because they're told to.

It's the old Monty Python "You're all individuals" and everyone shouts back "yes, we're all individuals".

Please provide proof he’s kidnapping kids and that one-year olds have to defend themselves at legal hearings. Thanks in advance!

the democrat Party should split into: Socialist democrats, democrat Socialists, Progressives, Liberals, Green Party, Antifa, Global Warming Eradication Party and Normal democrats (2 maybe 3 people left).

The tough decision will be: who controls the votes of the largest democrat voter bloc, the non-living? That will put the favored faction on top

Once you eliminate the non-living, the multiple voter and Illegals, Hillary probably lost CA too

Sounds like it’s worth a try but I don’t believe it’ll happen. There’s too much thirst for power but I do think more Americans are starting to realize how corrupt our government is.

I don't think anyone reasonably can dispute the dems went off the board with the identity politic thing. And there is police abuse, and blacks are disproportionately prosecuted, and gays are (decreasingly) discriminated against ..... but there's a distinct difference between saying Michael Brown was somehow deprived of his civil rights and supporting criminal justice sentencing reforms for nonviolent offenders.

Oh, no. It won't happen. The powers that be don't want to lose their power.

The Republican supporters know it'll make them lose big time, because they don't have 50% of the voting population.

Democrat supporters won't like it either because they'll worry the right will do well out of it, or something.

The rich won't like it at all, how do you control SIX political parties of coalitions?

Yeah, the system is such that membership in one or the other party is necessary to get anything done. I've never really understood why the US has been a two party state ever since Washington retired and other countries are vigorously multiparty.

But, it appears that the Republican Party is shrinking and the demographics are not in their favor.
Now the Democratic Party isn't quite taking over and have also lost public support, demographics are working their way for the future.

In the end, Independents are the fastest growing political demographic, they have had it with both parties as neither party appeals to centralist. The farther right or left the parties go, the more voters are moving to become Independent.
It's great to see more and more people thinking on their own, instead of goose-stepping to an ideology. This is a victory for America. It also raises of a centralist party to emerge, that prefers compromise.
Americans Favor Compromise to Get Things Done in Washington

Well THAT is the interesting thing. While Wall St has made trillions, the chamber of commerce is not doing as well, and tariffs threaten to make it worse. Wall St embraces both parties, though it felt betrayed by Obama who painted it a villain, but the chamber's been GOP since before the New Deal.
