1 Peter 5:13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; so doth Marcus my son.

As we are entering a new era, the church structure is changing; this is called a time shift, as God points out in Revelation. Who will listen to the warnings?

Rev 3:14-22 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

Paul is addressing God’s Majesty

15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

God says I know you inside and out, and find little to my likings, you’re neither with Me all the time, nor you’re neither against Me all the time, far better to be either with Me all the time or against Me all the time,”

Ezek 43:7-9 Neither the people of Israel nor the pastors will ever again drag my holy name through the mud with their whoring and the on-god idols their Pastors set up at all the worship places. When they set up their worship places right alongside mine with only a thin wall between them. They drag my holy name through the mud with their obscene and vile worship. Is it any wonder that I destroy them in my anger?

So let them get rid of their whoring ways and the stinking no-god idols introduced by their pastors and I'll move in and live with them forever.

16 Since you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to spit you out of my mouth.

You’re neither with Me all the time, and you’re neither against Me all the time, far better to be either with Me all the time or against Me all the time,”

Matt 7:22-23 (KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Lev 18:23-25 (KJV) Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.
Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
And the land is defiled: therefore, I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. In

Job 20:15 He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Neh. 9:29 And testified against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law: yet they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thy judgments, (which if a man does, he shall live in them;) and withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.

1 John 2:16-17 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.

John 10: 11 - 16 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
But he that is a hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. 13 The hireling fleeth, because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
As the Father knoweth me, even so, know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; there shall be one fold and one shepherd.

A Hireling’ is a Priest or Pastor, a hired shepherd, a mercenary, who tends the flock, the children of God for his own interest. When a hired shepherd sees the wolf coming he flees, not caring about the sheep.

18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye salve, that thou mayest see.

You brag, ‘I am rich, I’ve got it made, I need nothing from anyone,’ oblivious that in fact, you’re a pitiful, blind beggar, threadbare and homeless.

Job 29:14-17 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.
I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.
I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.
And I broke the jaws of the wicked and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

Isaiah 61:10-11 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and repent.

You learned deep in your heart that God disciplines you in the same ways a father disciplines his child.

2 Sam 7:14-15 (KJV)I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.

(When the Holy Spirit, First begins the cleansing, I will sprinkle a little fire)

upon you. This is a process, when you are being chastised, which will lead you to confession, and then chasing to continue you’re cleansing. Read Job 5: 17

20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come into him and will sup with him, and he with me.

1 Peter 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.

Heb 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death and was heard in that he feared;

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Romans 12:11 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. But it is a choice. God loves you, I know.

21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father on his throne.

Rev 3:10-11 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown.

Mark 14:37-38 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? Could not thou watch one hour?
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

1 Cor. 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

Indeed a little education works wonders. 1 Peter is based upon "advise" coming from Peter in relation to how Christian persecution and suffering should be handled. (1 Peter 4:12-14). Peter advises that suffering for Jesus Christ should not be unexpected since the Christ Himself also suffered persecution (1 Peter 2:21; 3:18,4:1, 12-14). Peter makes the argument that to share in Christ's suffering when one is persecuted for doing righteous work in the name of Christ is a "privilege". He argues that the suffering does not come from God as a punishment but it presents an opportunity to grow strong in the faith.....and its suffering shared with other believers." (1 Peter 5:9-10).

As my Pap told me when I was telling him about the suffering that occurs during combat....."You ain't the only farm boy to SEE THE ELEPHANT......" It took a few minutes to figure out what my Grandad was telling me....then it sunk in, everyone's first encounter with combat is like witnessing something that you have never seen nor expected to see. He spent 2 years in the south pacific during the war. He was telling me that I was not alone and I should seek out others who had witnessed what I had witnessed, those who had empathy. 1 Peter is telling those who are suffering...........You ain't the only one's to see the elephant, they should stand strong together.

As far as 1 Peter 5:13..........Christians often called the city of Rome "Babylon"........there is nothing in the text suggesting a literal congregation in Babylon. Peter was telling them those Christians who are suffering in Rome send you greetings as well. Peter is simply passing on greetings from those in Rome which included "SHE" who is in Babylon/Rome and also from John Mark.

In prophecy Rome is compared with Babylon (Isaiah 47:5-15). In the Book of Revelation Rome is "signified" as Babylon (Rev. 17:3-6,9,15,18). Rome is the government seat that was producing Christian Suffering and Persecution for the first 2 centuries of the infant church/kingdom of Christ. Biblical Israel was destroyed by the Roman Empire in the late 1st century....because they considered the Judeo/Christian religions a threat in inducing rebellion in the empire. Babylon is simply symbolism for Rome, the cause of Christian suffering.

There was no Rome at the time of Isaiah. If Isaiah 21:1 calls Babylon "the Desert by the Sea," doesn't that hint that Rome, which is not a desert, and literal Babylon, which is hundreds of miles away from the Gulf, are not meant?
