Global warming denial seems to be centered in the US. I think this is probably due to the American obsession with conspiracy theories. In Europe as is in most of the world, the question is not whether the earth is warming but rather what are we going to do about it.

The earth has been cooling for 10 years.

Not opinion konradv. Observable, quantifiable, fact. Of course, if you believe there is a computer simulation out there that is actually capable of making accurate predictions, by all means name it. Even climate scientists acknowledge that the models have little, if any, predictive ability.

Total bullshit, Bent. You have never presented anything backing your assertation that CO2 does not cause warming. And the computer simulations certainly made far better predictions concerning the present weather patterns than have the sorry assed deniers.

Doubters only need to not buy the snake oil that is presented as the truth when it has not been proven.

If CO2 is the driver of the climate that you claim it is, explain why the planet has cooed over the last ten years.

The question in the survey was how serious is the threat of global warming to you and your family. Global warming is a serious threat to future generations, not the current generation. Today, people are concerned more with current economic conditions and less concerned about the world at the end of this century. However, from this survey it's pretty clear that in spite of the current economic problems the developed nations are concerned.

It's for the children right? Its always for the children. When you can't rationally justify what you want to do, and the facts are stacked heavily against you, liberals always cry that it's for the children. How much more patheitc could you possibly be?

The warming that we currently enjoy started at the end of the Little ice Age that was the driver of famine, plague and misery of all descriptions for the human race.

The cooling into the depths of the Little ice age Temperatures ended in about 1600 to 1650. Since the cooling stopped, that means the warming started. This pre dates the Industrial Revolution by about 200 or so years.

In view of this, your thesis is empty and your cure is voided. Present proof or drop the case.

However, for the sake of argument, let's assume that your delusion is true. Your prescription calls for a return to the Little Ice Age, failed crops, starvation, famine plague, pestilence and misery of every type on a Biblical scale.

How on Earth does this serve to help the children?

Oh, you'd be referring to the corrected satellite numbers which really show a much cooler Earth, but your "scientists" bumped it up a bunch. Then there's the manipulated data and heat sink temperature recording sites. It just goes on and on. Your problem is, people have been told by us enough, that they checked into what we said and realize we are right.

CO2 doesn't conduct heat. It absorbs IR photons and re-emits them. Since statistically 50% of re-emitted photons would head back towards earth, how would that not contribute to the earth's heat load?

Statistically, none of it goes back towards the earth since the EM field radiated by the earth is orders of magnitude greater than the EM field represented by the radiation from a single CO2 molecule. The sky can't warm the earth, it would be a violation of the 2nd law of thermodynamics which states explictily that heat can not move from a cooler object (the sky) to a warmer object (the surface of the earth).

starz- for the last decade there has been no change in temp (roughly). heat gain has been matched by heat loss. individual years are not independent of the previous year. they do not start at the average temp of the last 30 years (or 300 or 3000 or 3million). the last decade has only been 'the warmest' because they initially started warm and didnt change.

we should be much more interested in the ENSO change of 1998 that reset the thermostat at the present level. years with little or no change are just not that interesting. it is the years withlarge differences in rate of change that will give us more information about climate and what controls it.

Only by using a record El Nino year as your starting point, 1998, can you make that claim. We equaled 1998 in 2005 and 2010 without a record El Nino. And, when the next strong El Nino occurs, will far surpass 1998.
