No link, it's was announced on a local tv station, our Mayor John Tory was talking from two sides of his mouth again about how great Toronto is, as he began to speak it started to rain so hard that one of his lackeys held a umbrella for him as he spoke.

Maybe he will tout Toronto and the beauty of socialism that has made us very uncompetitive and innovators of nothing, along with Ontario being the most indebted sub-borrower on planet earth. We do some nice banking stuff though.

Anyone here from Texas contact your local representatives and let them know you sure don't want to be like Toronto, if you followed our path your Republican would be in danger. You might advise them to look around at the corporate offices in the city, notice how many of them are American businesses? Plenty of jobs have been shipped our way I wonder what Texas get in return? The odd tourist from Canada who are curious as to real freedom and democracy looks like.

A lot of Canadian jobs got shipped to the US during NAFTA as well. The entire furniture industry, kitchen cabinets - entire segments of our economy were lost overnight the moment the deal went into effect. Together with the GST, the effect threw Canada into a recession in the early 90's.

The initial effects of NAFTA were so harsh on the Canadian economy that Canadians destroyed the Progressive Conservative Party who inflicted it on us. They didn't even qualify for official party status after the 1993 election. What little was left of the Progressive Conservatives merged with the Reform Party to form the Conservative Party.

Toronto is one of the most amazing cities in the world. Peter Ustinov called it "New York, if it were run by the Swiss".

The Texans can learn a lot from visiting Toronto.

I have to say I've read some funny posts on here, this might be the winner and thus I add a laugh response.

The last line you provide is both inaccurate and insulting. Texas is the salt of the earth, the center of freedom, honest justice and liberty, Canada; particularly Toronto, is the center of socialism.

There is nothing for Texans to learn from Canada other than to be reminded just why Bolshevik Bernie must never be president of the United States.
