Ted Cruz Is Not Eligible To Be President

She could if she wanted to and was elected.
What part of 'natural born citizen' do you not understand?

So, if a child of our Military was born off base in a hospital in Italy, they would not be a natural born citizen?

Or if two Americans are on vacation in Germany and she prematurely goes in to labor and delivers their child while there, the child too would not be natural born citizens?

While a child of two illegal immigrants, born on our soil would be automatically a natural born citizen?

That just doesn't seem right....?

Except, Cruz's mother was living in Canada, of her own free will (and not because she was stationed there thru the Military, or just there for a couple of weeks on vacation)

Seems too complicated, or more complicated than the author implies....

Did she renounce her citizenship while living there? No. She was still a US citizen...

He's a liberal. He gets caught up in the intellectualism and "academese" of the elitist chattering classes, such as the copy-and-paste jibberish in the OP.

Then he was naturalized, correct?

Yes, but not natural-born.

I wouldn't bother trying to explain the Constitution to Republicans. As a rule they care more about their political agenda than the Constitution. This has always been the case. This is why they use the Constitution as a weapon against their political enemies, often inventing Constitutional interpretations whole cloth, but forgive, overlook or rationalize any potential Constitutional issue they face (like Reagan selling weapons to Iran, or Bush's illegal wiretapping program, or Cruz's candidacy).

The Framers were clear. A citizen who was not born in the USA (states and/or territory) is not eligible to be president, and they could not get citizenship through their mother. This wasn't added until the 1934.

Republicans never - and I mean never - enforce the Constitution when it is inconvenient. If asked to choose between their political agenda and the Constitution, they will always pick their political agenda. If they needed to violate the Constitution to win the presidency, they would do it without thinking twice.

How funny is this? They never stop talking about their respect for the Constitution. Worse: the Tea Party favors originalism, under which Cruz is absolutely not eligible (because the Framers did not favor any form or matrilineal based citizenship). However, if Cruz becomes the nominee, you will see the Tea Party fall in line and burn the Constitution. Pathetic.

Ted Cruz is a natural born citizen under the Naturalization Act of 1790.

Go look it up.

Not true. Ted Cruz is a naturalized citizen from birth - but not a natural-born citizen.
We don't know that. Not even close.

Yes, we do know that - if his mother is in fact a U.S. citizen.
If that is, in fact, his mother. I'd also like to see her long form birth certificate submitted for independent examination.

This is clearly a job for Orly Taitz.

Top of page 104. "shall be considered as natural born citizens".

Seems pretty clear to me.

And yes, his mother was a US citizen by birth and his father was a US resident.

"shall be considered as" that pretty much describes result of all naturalization processes...so certainly doesn't prove your case

the title of the legislation you are referring to says something to the effect of "rules of naturalization"

it does not seem fair in some of the cases you cite, but remember women in the military didnt exist when Constitution written, and we had no overseas bases.
