Yes, I am a born again Christian, but I wonder.... given the circumstances of our galaxy, with out sun going to turn into a nova in a trillion years or so, and will totally destroy what we call our galaxy and planet earth, what will happen to our souls? Where will they go? Just hang out in outer space where our planet used to be? Go to another planet? DESTROY OUR SOUL because of the magnitude of the explosion? What - will - happen?

Aaaaaww SHIT! I misspelled "Christian" in the title of the thread and there's not a mod to be seen on the board.

PLEASE CORRECT THE SPELLING FOR ME ASAP! (To the first mod who sees this thread).

You're saying on another plane of existence or something?

And I thought Christians were supposed to inherit the earth after Christ returned. All given new bodies, etc. What if the earth is gone? Will God stop the sun from exploding? I mean it's within his abilities right? Since he's the one that made the stuff in the first place.

It's not entirely clear whether New Earth and New Jerusalem are part of a new material creation or not. If so, it's not clear from the texts I've read whether it's to be in the same plane and subject to the same laws of physics.

It seems to be open to interpretation.

Dear PR:
1. Since we can't know the answer in advance, but just rely on faith, the issue is really
how do we choose to live NOW, "unconditionally" of whether or when the world ends.
As long as your make the most of your decisions, what you make of your life and your relationships that you CAN do something about NOW, that is the most anyone can do!
So regardless what happens, you can be at spiritual peace and live without fear or regret.
You can give these questions to God to answer in due time, and focus on what is necessary and important for us to do today.

2. Remember that the Kingdom of God is found within/among us. Wherever we invite Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit to live in ourselves and in our relations. THAT is our connection with the Kingdom of God/heavenly peace on earth that we can do something about. The rest is done by God our Father in Heaven. See Matthew 18 that whenever two or three are gathered in prayer in Christ and agree on anything that touches the earth, it is done by our Father in Heaven, and whatever we loose or bind on earth is loosed or bound done in heaven.

Again, regardless what happens in heaven or beyond this lifetime, the most we can do is live like children in the Kingdom of God while we are here on earth.

3. In general, I believe we will reach the state of "heaven on earth" before these events occur in the far future. Either science and technology will advance to the point that changes may occur to preserve humanity; or if the world is meant to end, that will happen. Either way, again, the point is to live and love as much as we can, for the greatest good for all people, and establish truth peace and justice on earth, in Christ Jesus, and leave the rest to God.

4. If it is any comfort to you, when all humanity is joined in the spirit of truth by Christ Jesus or perfect conscience and compassion/charity for all, then all the answers/truth we are meant to know will be revealed. Anything we cannot know, we will learn to live unconditionally, i.e., regardless either way. So if we are meant to have answers to these questions, that will come when we need to know how to act and how to prepare. We have enough issues to face already; by the time we get a grip on the current crises and reforms, humanity will learn how to solve problems cooperatively to make the most of our human and natural resources; so whatever the future holds we will face that together.

I think JB is closer than one would think on this....we don't know if it is another dimension, this NEW Earth and New Jerusalem, or a new planet that we are put on.

and the sun won't blow up for another billion years, plenty of time for Christ to return and have his 1000 years of peace on Earth.

You would have to believe our sun is going to go super nova, just because science says so doesn't make it so. I being a Christian believe what the Bible says, our souls will be in heaven.

We are destine to be fuzzy bears at a Chuck-E-Cheese on Neptune.

Well, what the hell happens to our conscience? We are self aware. Its possible that we just die and that's the end of it, but I like to be optimistic about that. I am not religious.

Also, wasn't there some experiment to determine if our body got lighter after a person died? Fact or not, its an interesting topic.

When the bowels relax, you will definately lose weight.

First of all there is not enough fuel in the sun for it to last a trillion years. Estimates are about 4 or 5 billion years. There is not enough mass for it to become a nova. Even if it did, it could not destroy the galaxy only the solar system. The sun will mostly likely form a red giant and gradually cool to form a white dwarf. So what does all this have to do with what happens to your soul?

well

i knew you were stupid

but i didn't realize you were THIS fkn stupid

our sun will probably not go nova

and even if it does it will NOT destroy our GALAXY

our sun is the center of our little SOLAR SYSTEM

a galaxy is made up of millions/billions of solar systems

get a brain numbnuts

Our souls will want to be where ever the Lord is. He is the ultimate! None of the universe will be important to your "soul" (unless it is a task given to you by the Lord), it will just be important that you are near the Lord.

Or we use Occam's Razor: Once you're dead, you're dead. You need not worry about what happens in a trillion years.

Getting a brain is easy. It's using the brain that's the problem.

Personally, I'd rather have a good heart. I'd rather have compassion for my fellow man, even those who hated me. Much more important than having a brain.

Luckily. I will never have to choose between the two. I can have both.
