Chances are pretty good that the Trumpster, as a “master” of deflection, had someone release his 2005 tax returns to……..of course, deflect from the upcoming investigations on Trump’s ties to Russian oligarchs (and/or, China’s banks)….

Two issues to be kept in mind:

First, a congressional committee CAN subpoenaed the IRS to release any and all tax returns if there is plausible suspicion that someone with financial ties to a foreign entity may be beholden from performing tasks to benefit the US and not him or herself……especially someone as POTUS.

Second, Johnston and Maddow are FULLY exempt from any liability in releasing those 2005 returns since they received them from an anonymous source, not solicited them AND because they are under the umbrella of “freedom of the press.”

Most likely, as mentioned, this is yet a ruse by the Trump team to divert attention from the tsunami that’s about to hit them after the fill investigative powers are unleashed, and republicans in congress who think that they can “protect” Trump, may be committing political suicide.

The Republican took a vote on if it as necessary for Trump to show his tax returns and the vote was NO.

Nat, I see a couple of legal conclusions up there that have no basis in fact or law. Wanna give it a try?

True....However, if there is ANY suspicion of financial ties to a foreign government that is posed during the inquiry with Comey and several others, democrats will again call for a subpoena, and although I'm not sure of the committee rules, anyone in the minority can unilaterally call for such a subpoena.

There is a rarely used 1924 law which gives congressional committees that set tax policy the power to examine tax returns. It was used in 1974 when Congress looked at President Richard Nixon's returns.

yep, and there aren't any. so? It's all been reported. it's why we all are wondering why the left keeps it up since it was already done. what else you need?

You know, there are interesting things that happened in Nixon's day, and what is happening now with Trump is the same thing, just opposite.

Nixon was undergoing an IRS audit back in 1973, but still released his tax returns when he ran for president.

Trump said he was undergoing an IRS audit, which is why he can't release his tax returns.

Nixon had a leak that was the Watergate tapes, and when Woodward and Bernstein released them, nothing was said about any criminal activity in the leak, because the information was sent to them anonymously.

Trump has a leak that is his tax return, but now he's saying that the reporter published them illegally.

Trump isn't required by law to release his tax returns to the public or anyone else.

I hope he never does.....just to drive the liberals off the crazy cliff. ...

Then you shouldn't mind providing a :link: to this rarely used law? ....

Haven't you heard? That little transgender fellow from the fake news network had a scoop on President Trumps taxes last night. It was all over the news how could you have missed it?
