Syria: Up to 635 Reported Dead in Chemical Attack

It was a misjudgement by Assad that Obama didn't have what it took to call him on his red line. These Arab types often make aggressive misjudgements.

Saddam invaded Kuwait, one of our most important oil suppliers. All we could really say was, "He did WHAT??"

Same deal here. Assad knew poison gas was a big no-no, but he decided we didn't really mean it and he wanted to clear out that suburb of Damascus; the rebels had gotten awful close to the capital.

I don't think so.

That narrative does not hold water.

From RT Wednesday, 28 August:

"03:12 GMT: Foreign Policy Magazine reports that US intelligence has intercepted communication that allegedly proves that government forces used nerve agent in the attack in Damascus last Wednesday.

"The publication claims that after the attack an official at the Syrian Ministry of Defense 'exchanged panicked phone calls with a leader of a chemical weapons unit, demanding answers for a nerve agent strike.'

"The publication speculates that this is the evidence which makes the US and its allies certain that Assad troops were responsible for the attack."

The question in my mind is why. Why would Assad use Chemical weapons? Surely he would know that his enemies would launch a huge propaganda campaign which would not only strengthen the resolve of rebels but bring additional support for their cause. It also makes it harder for his traditional allies like China and Russia to come to his aid.

Another good reason to have all evidence evaluated at the UNSC:

"Still, a former CIA officer with long Middle East experience advised skepticism of purported leaked intercepts. Israel would be reluctant to disclose that it could listen in on senior Syrian figures, he said.

“'Because once you do that, it goes away,' he said, asking not to be quoted by name speaking about sensitive intelligence matters.

"However, he acknowledged that Israel has superior intelligence coverage of Syria.

“'They only do a few things, and they do them very well,' he said. 'They collect mainly on the countries that border them, and because they focus only on those targets, they are very effective. Their technical ability is on par with much larger nations.'”

Of course Israel does it well when it comes to Intelligence. That is why it is referred by many as the "eyes and ears" for the U.S. in the Middle East. As a retired Naval Intelligence Officer who used to post years ago on another form once said, "If Americans knew just how much Israel has helped America, they wouldn't begrudge Israel anything." Naturally Georgie Boy wouldn't go along with this because we know how fond he is of Jews and Israel.

A US attack on Syria would inadvertently provide an assist for al-Qaeda-linked groups that are fighting the Syrian government. Civil war attracts al-Qaeda like bees to honey particularly if the US is involved.

Apparently my skepticism of Israeli motives is shared by others in high (intelligence) places:

"The CIA considers Israel its No. 1 counterintelligence threat in the agency's Near East Division, the group that oversees spying across the Middle East, according to current and former officials.

"Counterintelligence is the art of protecting national secrets from spies.

"This means the CIA believes that U.S. national secrets are safer from other Middle Eastern governments than from Israel.

US sees Israel, tight Mideast ally, as spy threat

Israel is in it for Israel, any other thing, country, or nation is a mere afterthought.

But, Georgie Boy, the U.S. spies on Israel too as well as its others allies. All countries spy on each other.. Meanwhile, there are plenty of anti-Semites like you around and they could also be working for the CIA so Israel has to be extra careful. In a way, it is very amusing (pathetic also) how there are those like Georgie Boy who are obsessed with one tiny area of the world and close their eyes to what is happening elsewhere. Does anyone really think that Georgie Boy is interested in the 80 Shiites who were recently killed in Iraq? Let's put it this way -- innocents can be murdered for their religious beliefs by Dhimmi Georgie's newfound friends. If the Jews are not involved, Georgie Boy doesn't care what happens. Meanwhile, for all these years, Israel still has been the eyes and ears for America about what is going on in the Middle East.

But Hossie, Israel doesn't send the US $8 million a day to ensure your existence.
Therefore, the US would exist if 650,000 Jews hadn't inflicted their nation upon twice as many Arab Palestinians in 1948, AND you could spend all your time crying crocodile tears over Sudan.
