Supreme Court hears arguments on Trump's Tax Records

I would like every poster who feels it is imperative to see Trumps tax records to post theirs here. There is no legal requirement for you to do so you have done nothing illega
Trump has been charged as Individual One in a criminal proceeding that will take place if he doesn't win next November. Does he deserve a pass on those charges or should he be required to divulge his financials?

Michael Cohen: "Individual 1 is Donald J. Trump"

"When Michael Cohen pleaded guilty in November 2018 to lying to Congress, the documents filed with his plea deal didn’t explicitly name the person on whose behalf he had lied.

"It called him 'Individual 1.'"

"There was never any doubt that 'Individual 1' was President Donald Trump. But now, in his testimony before the House Oversight Committee Wednesday, Cohen has confirmed it.

"'I pled guilty in federal court to felonies for the benefit of, at the direction of, and in coordination with ‘Individual 1,’” Cohen said, reading from his prepared statement. 'And for the record: ‘Individual 1’ is Donald J. Trump.'"

Incorrect -
Mueller confirmed that the fact that he was currently President was not the reason that he was not subject to indictment.
Cohen pleaded guilty to non Trump related crimes and was sent to jail.
He pleaded guilty to the campaign finance violation in an attempt to lesson his jail time.

Now let's look at the real world.
Trump has filed tax returns, they have been reviewed by the IRS.
No one has shown that he has illegal income that he could be hit with tax evasion.
That IRS review consisted of little more than certifying Trump filed his returns.
Compare that limited audit to the one congress and the Manhattan DA would pursue.
If Trump has nothing to hide, he would have already revealed these returns and relevant documents.

Yeah that is exactly what an IRS review is -
Hey Mabel did that Trump guy file a return?

You can't make up the left loon stupidity.

The US Supreme Court has heard arguments on whether President Donald Trump should be allowed to keep his financial records secret, in a major showdown over presidential powers.

Mr Trump declines to share documents that could shed light on his fortune and the work of his family company.

Two congressional committees and New York prosecutors demand the release of his tax returns and other information.

Mr Trump's private lawyers argue he enjoys total immunity while in office.

The judges will hear the cases remotely because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Supreme Court has a 5-4 conservative majority and includes two Trump appointees - Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

The rule of law, and a guiding principle in our nation's jurisprudence is no man is above the law. The efficacy of the Supreme Court justices to dispense justice will be judged in this matter. If they decide in favor of President Trump, it will give carte blanche to him, and to every future POTUS.
Obama had everything put under seal in Hawaii......so that's all that can be said about that.
Trump should be treated the same.
I think what we should do is open up the tax records and all of the financial records of House Democrats and see where they're getting paid and by whom.
When Congresscritters continually enter office moderately well off and leave office even just a few years later obscenely wealthy, something is going on.

So we can say either he didn't do exactly what you think or he was a lot smarter then federal and state employees. I guess we could also make a case for all federal and state employees being able to be bought.
The US economy functions under principles of state capitalism.

Those who "own" the means of production acquire a disproportionate share of national wealth and then invest a fraction of those spoils to gain control of "the best government money can buy."

Wall Street's response to Covid-19 has confirmed that particular swamp remains undrained:

How the COVID-19 Bailout Gave Wall Street a No-Lose Casino

"In late April Marko Kolanovic, a financial analyst for JPMorgan Chase, wrote to clients with good news. Pandemic aside, investors should expect stock prices in S&P 500 companies to return to record numbers some time early next year!

"'The S&P 500 should attain previous all-time highs,' Kolanovic wrote, 'if the monetary measures are sustained.'

"The key part of this phrase was the last bit, 'if the monetary measures are sustained.'

"In countries that did not have a Federal Reserve Bank shooting a bazooka of cash daily at Wall Street, Kolanovic suggested the coronavirus would result in a 30 percent decline in the present value of earnings."

No real indication that The Current Left believes in The Constitution, at all.

There is no real reason to see any of Trump's records. He isn't accused of any wrongdoing.

IDIOT-GRAM ^^^; Variety, foolish rationalization.

Explanation: if he has done nothing wrong, he would have fulfilled his promise to release these documents.

Nope that's not how the right to privacy works. It's too easy to use that for any excuse to pry into a person's privacy..... a false Dichotomy.... " If you have nothing to hide "..... total bullshit.

JO

This issue is not an excuse, it is a legitimate inquiry into the behavior of President Trump. He abdicated his privacy in this case when he lied about not being able to produce his tax records, using the excuse it was in audit; any subject who is under suspicion of wrong doing opens the door to further probe, and in Trump's case there are a number of examples for The People to subpoena these records:

Statements by the two women who accused trump of sexual relations and buying off both the National Inquirer and bribing two these women in violation of campaign finance laws is more than sufficient to look over his records; direct orders from President Trump for his staff to ignore subpoenas; documents secured in the Search and Seizure of his Attorney and Accountant; and Michael Cohen's direct testimony under oath. All of these and his express Consciousness of Guild provide sufficient evidence for further inquiry.

Uhhhh, you just said that they bribe CONGRESS, not the IRS. That's not chipping away at the IRS. Sounds like the real problem is those who enter Congress moderately well off and leave extremely wealthy. You know, like democrats do
Congressional Democrats AND Republicans serve the same ten percent of US voters, namely the so-called "investor class" or richest 10%.

Congress has simultaneously increased the complexity of the US tax code while shrinking the IRS's enforcement capability; instead of concentrating pressure on billionaires who don't pay their fair share, the IRS used its limited budget to investigate working class taxpayers who had no access to legal and financial professionals advice

"Since 1992, the American population has grown 27% but the IRS staff has shrunk by 34%, to less than 78,000 people.

"At the same time, Congress has added enormous complexity to the tax code."

LOL, you've yet to post a comment which is not ludicrous.

So since all those other things violate the Constitution what's one more right?

And Congress has the power to "raise and support armies" IOW conscript or draft

You know, most innocent people want the truth to come out, while most guilty people do whatever they can to keep the truth from coming to light. it couldn't be much simpler than that.
Trump has a long timeline of tax fraud.
It's hard to believe they were ignored during the 2016 campaign.

Tax Fraud By The Numbers: The Trump Timeline [UPDATED 2020]

Obviously Trump Tax Fraud is simply - Fake News.

The Republican Smear machine would have used this against him to beat him and keep the nomination within the party establishment.

BJ rates this as :

Completely False.

Mueller confirmed that the fact that he was currently President was not the reason that he was not subject to indictment.

Mueller literally said the opposite. He said that they did not determine if he should be subject to indictment one way or the other because he has no power to indict him in the first place

Cohen pleaded guilty to non Trump related crimes and was sent to jail.

That’s not true

He pleaded guilty to the campaign finance violation in an attempt to lesson his jail time.

See you are aware that Cohen pled guilty to Trump related crimes. That wasn’t hard.

Then we both agree that Congress is deliberately making the tax code so complex that it becomes easy for them to use the IRS as a political weapon. They can in essence use the IRS to go after political opponents while ignoring political allies. I identify the problem not as rich families trying to weaken the IRS, but as Congresscritters using its power to further their own goals instead of allowing it to operate independently. And yes, we could almost completely do away with the IRS if we had tax returns simple enough to put on a post card.

As long as they leave office significantly richer than when they enter, there's a problem.

Yeah that is exactly what an IRS review is -

Does Mable have any evidence Trump has ever committed tax fraud?

Tax Fraud By The Numbers: The Trump Timeline [UPDATED 2020]

"By 1989, Donald Trump owed his father about $11 million and it was coming up on time to collect.

"If the loan was simply forgiven, it would turn into taxable income; instead, Donald paid it back through a 7.5% stake in one of his Manhattan condominiums.

"This means that both Donald and his father Fred agreed that 7.5% of his property, obtained through stocks, had a value of $11 million.

"However, Fred Trump sold this 7.5% stock back to his son just two years later for only $10,000, spread out over multiple transactions.

"One documented example from 1991 provided by the Times listed a net loss of almost $1 million for just one of these transactions!

"Nothing drastic happened to New York City real estate prices in order to justify this price difference, so it appears as though the agreed-upon 7.5% was now only worth a fraction of its original value.

"In this way, Donald Trump and his father were able to turn a debt of $11,000,000 into only $10,000, paid tax-free, all by grossly overvaluing and then undervaluing the stock value of his property."

Cohen pleaded guilty to non Trump related crimes and was sent to jail.
What "non Trump related crimes" did Cohen plead guilty to?

https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...226ff2-fcbf-11e8-83c0-b06139e540e5_story.html

"Cohen made an emotional apology to U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley III, taking responsibility for what the judge called a 'veritable smorgasbord of criminal conduct' — crimes that included tax violations, lying to a bank and, during the 2016 campaign, buying the silence of women who claimed that they once had affairs with the future president."

"The downfall of the hard-charging, high-profile lawyer has potential consequences far beyond Cohen, as authorities have alleged that Trump directed him in violating campaign finance laws."
