Desperation? Anything to keep up the news on climate change? Not surprising from a Brit news source.

Supplement that makes cows less flatulent could help fight climate change: Drug cuts methane gas by 30 per cent, say scientists

Supplement can cut down the methane production of a cow by 30 per cent

It can also make them gain 80 per cent more body weight, scientists claim

This is important as methane is a greenhouse gas which is 23 times more potent than carbon dioxide in trapping heat in the atmosphere

Needless to say, this is no joke.

But, far worse is that while we have sewer systems in place for human waste, we have no way of of dealing with the enormous animal waste our livestock produces.

You're not a gardener are ya? Shut up in an urban apartment with a couple wilted ficus?
Domestic herds replaced maybe less than the natural load of buffalo, deer, ect roaming the planet before domesticated farming.

So the issue is what now?

Overall, if a simple feed additive does all that without HARM --- go for it.. The only other solution is ---

" The Belgian Blue: No, it’s not a GMO!

The mutation has been documented as far back as the early 1800′s, but the modern Belgian Blue is the result of intensive selective breeding and inbreeding programs in the 1950′s. The result is a breed of cattle which has a universal tendency toward double-muscling and hence the unusual appearance.

The Blue is prized for its extremely high yield of lean meat. However, the economics of the breed are debatable, as there are a number of complications to raising and keeping the breed. For one, most births are by c-section, as the Blue has difficulty birthing calves naturally. The breed requires more concentrated protein-rich feed and does not do well in all environments. For this reason, the Bengian Blue is not an especially popular breed of cattle, and thus many people are not familiar with them."
