State's lawmakers pass 66 percent income tax increase

http://www.usmessageboard.com/3192847-post10.html

There are two types of taxations flow-through and dual taxation. Flow-through gets taxed on the individual's (owners/shareholder for S Corps) income tax based on profits. It hits everyone but the C Corp. S Corps, LLC, GP, LP, LLP etc. so the 2% increase in taxes will hit these guys.

The Dual taxation is where the Corporate taxes comes into play. C Corps get hit with the dual tax and hence will be hit with the highest Corporate Tax Rate on Earth at the entity level and then at the shareholder level distribution. The List of IL C-Corps are who is going to get effected and who have just been provided all the incentive a bad politician/business man could give to a company to relocate!

Note on State Corporate Tax - It is just not taxed on Corporations headquartered in the state its also on income/revenue or activities within the jurisdiction. That includes domestic (companies organized in that state) or foreign (companies that have significant presence or create revenue from the state, but organized in another state)!

Should have sold/leased the highway like Indiana did several years ago. That money and Daniels cuts in government has kept Indiana budget balanced through out this depression/recession. He even reduced our property taxes during this time.

I would truly love to see Daniels run for Prez. He would get my vote.

This guy could probably straighten out the mess the entire country is in.

Hmm

Daniels/Cristi Cristi/Daniels 2012?

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois lawmakers have approved a politically risky 66 percent income tax increase in an effort to solve a historic budget crisis.

The bill now goes to Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn, who supports the plan.

It would temporarily We know that's not true. Spending will increase if it even gets close to balancing the budget. set the personal tax rate at 5 percent, up from 3 percent now. Corporate taxes would climb, too.

Quinn's office says the tax increase would generate about $6.8 billion annually, helping close a budget hole that could hit $15 billion this year. As long as companies don't move out. Indiana must be very happy at this idiocy.

In sheer percentage terms, the increase could be the biggest on the long list of those passed as states grapple with nationwide economic woes. We're number 1! We're number 1! We're number 1!

The Illinois Senate approved the measure 30-29 early Wednesday. The House had approved it late Tuesday.

It's rare that I'm glad I no longer live there. But it's moments like this that really drive it in that I will never move back home.

That's great news!!!

give or take a couple

http://www.usmessageboard.com/3192847-post10.html

Wonder what this list will look like a year from now.

Probably much the same, just downsized on how many people they hire to work for them. My point is more in that they raise taxes but lose the jobs/pay to tax people. This will hurt more than just income tax but what people spend and so on. They might still make gains with higher taxes but I doubt it will be as high as predicted.

It cost a lot to move a company...

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois lawmakers have approved a politically risky 66 percent income tax increase in an effort to solve a historic budget crisis.

State's lawmakers pass 66 percent tax increase - Politics - More politics - msnbc.com
By DEANNA BELLANDI
The Associated Press

That's great news!!!

....for Missouri.

and Indiana, Kentucky and yes even Michagan.

When I lived in Cairo, I went into Mizz to get gas every week b/c it was cheaper.

Now that we have the highest number of Republicans in the Missouri legislature in our states history, Missouri lawmakers are looking at abolishing the state income tax altogether.
(KMOV) – Big changes are coming in how Missouri approaches taxes and education. The Missouri Legislature is back session, and Republicans are moving ahead with an aggressive agenda.

Republicans are in a supermajority in the Senate, and are only three votes shy of a veto-proof majority in the House. They’re pushing major tax reform, including possibly getting rid of income tax, and Democrats can only hope the governor slows down.

The 96th Missouri Legislature is already making history because of its majority, and new House speaker Steve Tilley says tax reform is first.

Tilley says Republicans are seriously looking at getting rid of the income tax and replacing it with a sales tax.

hmm

If that passes there could be some good from it and some bad.

People will have more money, but will have to save longer to make big ticket purchases.

So initially, the state will lose out, but in about 6 months, the gains will begin to come through.

Companies will move in and may be able to pay a little less, b/c people will still have more and can use the money to expand.

Illinois is fucked.

Who except government demands you pay 66% more for the same crap you always got?

Hmm, lets be straight here. The capitalist government is the only one I know. In China you pay for what you use or do in the socialist market economy, and it shows in their low tax revenues of 924 billion U.S. dollars for 2009, while services are out pacing America; high speed rail, infrastructure, etc. Did I mention it was a socialist economy?

Who except government demands you pay 66% more for the same crap you always got?

private companies

What a great response! Now explain the major reasons privite companies raise their prices for the same product.

1. Increased taxation that gets transfered over to the consumer.
2. Costly regulations that gets transfered over to the consumer.
3. Union contracts that give lavish benefits that get transfered in the cost to the consumer.
4. Government mandated entitlement funding that the business and the worker must pay that gets transfered over in the cost to the consumer.
5. Hevy regulation and taxation of industries that the business rely on (like oil) which gets transfered from thoes businesses in the form of costs to the other businesses who then transferes thoes costs to the consumer.
6. Taxation and regulation that creats a barrier to entery to a new business so that less businesses enter the market and allowes existing businesses to get away with higher prices for the consumer as they have no competition.
7. Uncertainty of government action which forces businesses to raise their prices in order to store cash for uncertain times and operate in worst case sinerio mode.

All these taxes and regulations are a back door tax on you! Not the business. They just transfer their taxes in the price of their product to you. Business dont pay their taxes. YOU pay their taxes when you buy their stuff. And then you complain about the price, send congress to attack them through higher taxation and regulation, and expect the prices to stay the same? I could go on and on about all these things that you never think of when you complain about a private business. Make no mistake about it. A tax on an industry is a tax on YOU, not the industry.

Should have sold/leased the highway like Indiana did several years ago. That money and Daniels cuts in government has kept Indiana budget balanced through out this depression/recession. He even reduced our property taxes during this time.

This is what makes Daniels presidential candidate material for 2012. Good job, governor!

Illinois is run by corrupt stupid assholes. They will never realize the tax revenue they think they will.

I don't think they want to.

Honestly, I think they are trying to break the bank.

Why would that be...?

I think they are just too LAZY to go over the state's budget to make the hard cuts and rein in spending....(does a liberal even know how to budget cut?).....it's far more EASY to just raise taxes.....especially in the dead of a Friday night when nobody is really watching....:eusa_shhh:

If Obama is elected again.....we all can look forward to the same thing....

This is what makes Daniels presidential candidate material for 2012. Good job, governor!

Illinois is run by corrupt stupid assholes. They will never realize the tax revenue they think they will.

I don't think they want to.

Honestly, I think they are trying to break the bank.

I think they are hoping for bail out money. If they are out of money to pay the unions, money will come from the Fed to pay that debt. And where does the Feds money come from?

Imagine living in Fl and knowing your tax money is paying to keep over priced unions going.

Daley says tax increase will send businesses out of state

Mayor Richard Daley today predicted the increase in the corporate income tax rate passed by state lawmakers overnight will prompt a quiet exodus of jobs to neighboring states.

"Businesses don't have press conferences like this and announce they're moving 50 people out, 60 people out, 70 people," Daley said.

The comments of the Democratic mayor, who is not seeking re-election in February, echoed those made by Republican lawmakers as the Legislature sent the tax increase to Gov. Pat Quinn overnight with just the votes of Democrats who control the House and Senate. Quinn, a fellow Democrat, is expected to sign it.

"We have a new governor-elect in Wisconsin, a lot of competition comes from Wisconsin (Gov.) Mitch Daniels from Indiana, a lot of competition," Daley said at a City Hall

DALEY?!? Of the Crime family Daleys?

I hate doing this, but I seriously need a link. I simply can't fathom Daley breaking from the herd.
