I've notice something about liberal arguments that I think might be useful to understand. Let's start out with the assumption that these are all closet authoritarians who dream of living in a country where people are dictated to by some kind of elite human beings. It should be pretty obvious to everyone that is what they want but in today's democratic world it's impossible to be completely honest about such an agenda. Since they can't beat the freedom and democracy argument in any sane universe they have to emulate it just so they can push their authoritarian agenda. There is heavy projection that goes on within democratic circles that doesn't occur anywhere else. Liberals spend more time and energy convincing everyone that they are about democracy which is something conservative and libertarian groups don't do. In their minds it is just a given so there is no need to overcompensate for their insecurities by mentioning how liberal they are suppose to be. It reminds me of fraudulent business scams that spend more time telling people this is not a scam. I've noticed that liberals use the freedom, capatalist, and democracy argument to push their agenda simply because it is the one the public will find acceptable. At every turn they use take those successful arguments and twist them for their own agenda and it is just damn frustrating because they are not genuine about there belief in those things. Consider obamas defense for the building of a mosque near ground zero. He cited property rights. Which he is right but property rights are then denied when those same rights interfere with the socialist agenda such as the right of property for the rich to keep their own damn money. It's just damn frustrating sometimes that so much of the public can't see through these lies.

You don't live in a democracy my little man. The Founders both feared and hated them, for good reason.

I have just proven my point. In your mind the the expression we don't live in a democracy means that an elite can override the popular will whenever it is suitable. The expression we don't live in a democracy means that we have a constitution that governs all. It may seem like this overrides the democratic process but even constitutions are voted on. So this country is still governed by the people since the people either agreed with the constitution or it didn't. I know that is a shock to you but that is how it is in America.

This country has never been governed by the people, not even on day one, and that was intentional...
