Socialism

It that be the case then so is:
Home Land Security
Local Police and Fire Protection
Government operated prisons
FBI
FDIC Insurance
SBA loans to small businesses
etc, etc....

yes, those are all examples of socialism.

and look how many curb your Freedom in various ways...or are grasping for control...

Kinda makes one wanna be a biblical scholar with a 'curbed' understanding of mentalism, the occult, and such. Such things like catalysts and 'necessary evils'.

Oh..so you like Socialism that's used to kill people..like the military..but hate it when it's used to help people..like Medicare.

This is just what I thought. And it's at the Core of Conservatism.

ROFL! Are you saying you think we shouldn't have a military? On the other hand, if you think we should have a military, that means you want to kill people?

Which is it: do you want to abolish the military, or do you want to kill people?

Medicare doesn't help people. When you total the costs, they don't equal the benefits. That's always the case with government programs (i.e., socialism)

:lol::clap2:

Again..proving my point.

Thanks man.

That essentially, conservatism, really has no place in this country. We weren't founded on the principle that government should be used to protect the monied class and expend everyone else.

Conservatives have historically tried to thwart progress. And mostly for selfish reasons.

many countries moved away from socialism because it was a miserable failure...why don't liberals and leaders like BO realize that and stop moving toward it...?

in any case today socialists are still quite active around the world....and they are influential in the political workings of many countries....just take a look at the members of Socialist International.....

Canada, for example, has socialists represented by the New Democrat Party...

What you aren't getting is that almost every one of our global competitors have Socialist properties that we do not... which gives their corporations and manufacturing sector a distinct advantage over us. In almost every one of those countries they have Health Care provided. That's a huge advantage if Private Businesses don't have to supply their employees with Health Care Coverage. Sure... they Collectively pay for it in taxes... but the working people do too.

Europe has Health Care... Education... and a guaranteed retirement.... all paid for by taxpayer dollars. Sure, there are a few countries in Europe Struggling. But most are thriving. What the European Union has to do... if they want a real union... is to work with Greece and Ireland to boost their abilities to produce.

Personally... I am not sold on Capitalism OR Socialism. I prefer a Hybrid system of the two. Where one side provides the checks and balances for the other. Which is kind of what we have. The only problem is that monied interests have swung the pendulum way to the right. Obama ran on a platform that would try to correct that and bring it back into the middle. But the money people of our country already had so much power, influence and Politicians in their pocket that it was impossible to happen...so instead, we have gotten half measures that aren't good for anyone.

I blame Obama, I blame the scatterbrained ideology of my own party... and I also blame the Corporatist Republican Party and their Pit Bull subspecies, the Tea Party. The saddest thing is that the Tea Party are just too damned dumb to realize they are being manipulated by those at the top that do not want the money train to slow down.

Well said, concise and to the point. This thread seems to be a punctuated by ignorance, for we are in a fact a mixed economy (hybrid as you pointed out) and neither lassiez-faire Capitalism or pure Socialism (Communism) has ever existed and would likely never work in a large and complicated modern society.

Extremes in the world of Socialism lead to an authoritarian political system and in the worst cases totalitarianism; Capitalsim, and the US today, risks Plutocracy (and I believe our Republic has already turned the corner, and we have become a nation controlled by the few and not the many, for money now controls D.C and even local county and city councils). Citizens United v. FEC may have been the kill shot to democracy in America.

True, but what does that have to do with conservatism? You mistake your sleazy imbecile slurs for reality.

In the liberal conception of reality, if you don't support plundering anyone's income and property, then you support "protecting the monied class."

Socialism is whatever the speaker or writer wants or thinks it to be, note the replies. In America, for some, it has become a stick to hit another with, a pejorative label for a certain community of thought. In reality socialism is like all isms, an idea or ideal. If you are truly interested in the topic may I suggest the Oxford Shorts, they are excellent. From what little I have come to yet understand... that isn't true at all, it is rather better said that Conservatives potentially make Liberals work harder for progress than they would prefer to. Something about mediocrity and such... But, I am quite the novice, of course. AND all this is a bad generalization, considering the vast levels within which our understandings seem to dwell.

In America's most expensive city, there are epic levels of homeless folks..............

Most of the k00ks living there are staunch socialists who promote themselves as the most compassionate people on the planet..................

fAiL.....................San Francisco Confronts Homeless Problem - ABC News

As usual your efforts to 'prove' something is framed in dishonesty. A sure sign your opinons are based on bigotry and emotion.

Fact: The "candidate for Mayor" completed two terms and is now the Lt. Gov of California. The article is years old and several mayors (a woman, a black, a white man and today an asian) have all wresteled with a chronic problem (I note the gender and race to at least suggest to those llike Kook who hold the opinion SF is populated with liberal/progressive clones alone that their opinion is wrong) of homelessness.

Montgomery Street is the Wall Street of the West, hardly a mecca for socialists. It is true that the Board of Supervisors, elected by district, can be over the top on issues. It makes for great headlines and hysterical skookerasbillisms. The facts are The City has always tolerated kooks. Emperor Norton lived in The City in the 19th Century. Clearly insane he was supported by and treated as a nobel by residents and elected officials alike.

In the 1950's Beatniks an later the Hippies found tolerant acceptance here; their presence became a source of dollars for our businesses as tourist flocked to gawk. Shortly thereafter The Castro, a blue collar district on the' foothills' of Twin Peaks found tolerant acceptance and began a private redevelopment which is on-going. Wood framed homes, some '06 survivors have been restored and business thrived as more and more gay and lesbians came to the mecca of tolerance, fleeing homes where they were unaccepted by communities and even their families.

Not a hint of socialism in that picture, huh, Kook? As usual the far right's fantasy never approches reality. Homeless exist, here and elsewhere. If you have a soluton, post it.

Hey what can I say? I just report the real thats going on in the world when I take a gandor into this site.

The fact that the city of SanFrancisco is methodically pushing blacks out of the city housing simply goes to show the two-faced phoney that is the left.

"Blacks leaving San Fransisco at the fastest pace of any major US city"

People who live in SanFrancisco are self-absorbed frauds...

When a city is populated by k00ks, the people who represent them are k00ks. The whole country knows it...........

"Cut" what from the middle class? Higher taxes do not benefit the middle class. They only benefit tics on the ass of society.

No one is proposing raising taxes on the middle class, are they? But they are proposing massive cuts to needed programs that benefit the Middle Class. Which is in essence the same damn thing... you are just too dumb to realize it.

Here's how Socialism works, when it works:

Five economic lessons from Sweden, the rock star of the recovery

STOCKHOLM — Almost every developed nation in the world was walloped by the financial crisis, their economies paralyzed, their prospects for the future muddied.

And then there’s Sweden, the rock star of the recovery.

This Scandinavian nation of 9 million people has accomplished what the United States, Britain and Japan can only dream of: Growing rapidly, creating jobs and gaining a competitive edge. The banks are lending, the housing market booming. The budget is balanced.

The "plundering" comes from the monied class. You lived through "TARP" and don't know that? You just paid for high fliers to play games with other people's money to enrich themselves with no risk to themselves whatsoever. And the fact that someone like Bill Gates has a fortune of over 40 billion should be shocking..given that a great deal of it was derived directly from the Tax Payer. That would be in the form of government research that created computing..to direct contracts with Microsoft for it's windows OS.
