so many of you talk about the poor and underpriveledged

Um, Lizzie?

No- the point is that all the tax money our government has poured into the war on poverty has not done anything besides exacerbate the problem, while increasing the burden on those of us who produce.

Provably untrue. Show me anytime in history when poverty claimed a lessor percentage of the population or the circumstances of poverty were better than they are today, with all of our evil government programs. If you want to find who is increasing your burden, you may want to look in a different direction. The underclass didn't make your 401K implode or increase your tax rate.

Poverty levels have risen since 1993 and are heading toward pre-"war on poverty" levels. We have an aging population with an estimated 10,000 people per day retiring, over half the federal budget is spent on social/welfare/healthcare programs yearly, about half the population paying anything at all in federal income taxes, the disability rolls are growing at a faster rate than ever before, and 44% of our population is living on at least one form of government welfare check or another. Yes, the government programs have caused more problems than they have fixed. We can't afford them anymore, yet more and more people are benefitting, and less people are footing the bill.
What made your 401K implode is just another ill-conceived government social engineering program coupled with a piss-poor congressional piece of legislation which led to the biggest economic crisis in recent history.

How much of the federal budget's asset column is derived from taxes aimed at paying for social/welfare/healthcare programs? Is ALL of that derived from federal income taxes?

You are either misinformed or you are dishonest.

I guess your point is there is a wide range of reasons why some people do not do as well as others. The right wing loves to place the blame on the welfare queen scamming the system or those who are too lazy to work.

Any way you cut it, this is a piss poor economy. People who formerly had good jobs with good pay and benefits find themselves without work and ask "What did I do wrong?". I get tired of people calling our bottom 50% lazy and stupid. American workers are the hardest working and most productive in the world.

Truth be told, the people responsible for their struggles are still doing well. They made bad investments, they took wild risks, they were the first in line for bailouts. The financial collapse they created is hurting millions of workers. It is time we stop blaming the victims

I get tired too of people rejecting jobs!
Since Jan 2010 I have received 870 emails from SnagaJob.com.
Each email has a minimum of at least one job and many have jobs like the below:

RN or LPN (Registered / Licensed Practical Nurse)
Certified Framer
General Manager
Salesperson
Crew Member
Sr Sales Associate
Customer Service Representative
Support Specialist
Night Maintenance

So tell me why would ANYONE have a problem finding a job!
All of the above jobs were within 20 miles of where I live!
And MY state has the 10th worst unemployment rate of 10.3% for 09/2011!

10th worst unemployment rate YET I have 870 emails since Jan 2010 each for one job and many emails like the above.

Please explain "WHAT IS THE UNEMPLOYMENT problem for people that TRULY want to et off "unemployment benefits?

Not everyone qualifies for all those jobs...The last time I applied for Customer Service rep, there were literally hundreds of people applying and no one locally got the job, they hired someone who had already worked with the company in another state.

His emails are total Bull Shit. His emails are not offers of employment to him. They are blanket emails sent automatically to thousands of people. 870 jobs over two years with thousands of applicants does not justify a conclusion that there are plenty of jobs out there
