Since when does the Catholic Church have the right to force their religious values...

Wait!

What?

The Church is forcing people to work for it?

Heaven forefend!

On the down side... for the President. He lied to our Church... that's kind of a 'no no'... and, we are the biggest swing vote in the country... and, we have heavy populations in many battle ground states... and, we tend to hold allegiance to no man, or party... only God. Ruh oh! Obama's got a bigggggg problemo.
Does the Church also expect to assert its claim to also be exempt from government protections concerning gender, race, color, creed and sexual orientation?

That would create an even "bigggggg(er) problemo."

The big argument against John Kennedy and previous Catholic presidential candidate was that he would put the interests of the Church ahead of the state.

Given that there are currently 2 Catholic presidential candidates vying for the Republican nomination, perhaps this is not the best of times for the Catholic Bishops to resurrect these fears!

Pssst. Religious organizations ARE exempt. Damn that First Amendment.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Are you aware of any churches that have "women are of the devil and should be banned" as part of their doctrine? Or black people? Or Mexicans? (Churches are already allowed to not hire homosexuals, dear. Get a clue.)

More to the point, we're not talking about who they hire or don't hire. We're talking about whether or not they provide certain benefits to their employees. Try to come up with a comparison that's actually relevant, would you please?

Obama just went on about how his religious beliefs shape his decision making lefties....

Guess you'll have to put that ammo back in the box.

Do they get to refuse covering chomotherapy if you get cancer because their religion doesn't believe in that kind of treatment? No they can not.

Link to proof?

No it doesn't. Proof again?

Really? What DISEASE are you preventing? Is Pregnancy a disease now?

I believe it's high time we started muslims eating pork in this nation. The National Pork Board shows all sorts of benefits for that.

How do you think that stand is going to go over?

Atheists will now be required to say the FULL pledge of Allegiance, and the Lord's Prayer before every gathering. Good law, yes?

By refusing to enable you, they are imposing their morality on you? How are they stopping you from providing for yourself?

1. There's no constitutional protection for a business.
2. The first Amendment prohibits the government from interfering with a religion's tenants and practices. This service is offered to those whom are involved with the Catholic church as a service for their faithful. You don't have to use it, the same way you don't have to use a church's clothing drives, or bake sales.

Rational people disagree.

Show the law that says he can't.

Many people believe the same about Roe v. Wade. And?

Counting chickens before they hatch I see.

P.S. Funny the pope approves of gays using contraceptives. So he understands that gays can get deseases from having sex but he can't understand that straights can to?

Link to this 'approval'? Secondly, when's the last time a gay couple got pregnant by each other?

1. Scientologists don't believe in medical treatment like blood transfusions or psychiatric drugs. They can't refuse this to their employees. And Catholic employers can't deny coverage of birth control. Obama was only being nice when he compromised. Didn't want to make this a political issue, so he has the insurance company handling it. Brilliant.

And you have to understand you represent a very small fringe group of people. An extreme minority. Even 99% of Catholic women have used birth control. Only the extreme right wing fringe of your cult is anti birth control or doesn't understand its importance.

2. What are we preventing? Unwanted pregnancies. And it is funny you right wingers want to end welfare but then force poor women to have children. You make no sense. You only care about life until it is born, then it is on its own.

3. Provide for yourself? Doesn't insurance cover anything anymore? And I know $800 isn't a lot to you Mitt Santorum, but it is to these women. And you don't understand the cost savings here helping these women NOT have kids. The welfare will cost you much more than $800 amonth. So they will die because you refuse them welfare? And you care about life? HA!

4. Show you the law that says federal employers must provide healthcare to same sex couples? Doesn't exist, YET.

Remember, you are the minority, not me. Most people are pro birth control and pro choice.

I find it funny how many things you asked for proof or a link. Look any of what I said up and prove me wrong if you can. I'll give you one: The Pope approves condom use for gay hooker sex | Nerve.com

And Catholics can't refuse to provide contraceptives to their employees just like Mohammad Ali coudn't refuse to fight in Viet Nam because of his religous beliefs.

Why couldn't he refuse to fight in a war that was against his religious beliefs?

Sorry, the military has a status for that known as Conscientious Objector. The Amish get a pass on it all the time, as well as a few other pacifist religions.

So thank you for showing the government can't cause the Catholic Church to provide contraception directly or by proxy.

...on their non Catholic employees?

Churches are exempt from the ruling.

However, religious institutions that employ and serve people outside their faith -- hospitals, elementary schools, universities -- have to comply with the requirement to cover birth control if they offer health insurance coverage for employees. That means such Catholic institutions, which employ and serve wide swaths of non-Catholics across the country, will not be exempt, despite church teachings against use of contraception.

Obama Administration's New Contraception Rule Puts Key Catholic Vote at Risk

What gives the Catholic church (or any church, for that matter) the right to force their religious convictions on employees who aren't even catholic?
They have the right to not work there. What right does the Gov't. have to force the Catholic Church to pay for birth control? Hint, it doesn't, that is socialism.
