What ever happened to Mr. Roebuck? Sears is a lot like the democrat party. They thought they could get away with 19th century ideas in the 20th century. It worked for a little while until a better idea came along. Not many people mourned the passing of Montgomery Ward and my guess is that old Sears catalogs discovered in attics will be considered as a heavy junk by the electronic generation.

Our Sears was torn down recently but a new building is going up in its place to house the new anchor, a Von Maur department store, upscale, Nordstrom type operation according to reports.

I wouldn’t invest a dime in new bricks and mortar in a mall location but they think they’ve got a formula that’s gonna work. We’ll see. I think it’s gonna be a freestanding store though, not connected to the older existing mall if that’s got anything to do with its future performance.
