If Trump loses to Hillary in the general election and Cruz beats her, why is the left attacking Trump and not Cruz?

If Trump loses to Hillary in the general election and Cruz beats her, why is the left attacking Trump and not Cruz?

The left is attacking Trump and Cruz as best they can.
But it takes Constitutional arguments even stronger than Cruz's to point out where he is biased and flawed, and most liberals are not that experienced or astute in Constitutional arguments to be able to beat Cruz at his game.

So it's easier to beat Trump at his game which is swapping personal insults in the media that the left is used to.
They will find it easier to hit on Trump as the easier target,
and leave it to Clinton and her professional spin doctors to take on Cruz in the media that requires professional level warfare to argue with him (unless you are content to resort to personal attacks as Trump does )

I don't think all attacks are calculated political moves that come from fear... That may be the spin but for the most part, the attacks come from genuine disagreement of policy and actions. I hear the left attacking both trump and Cruz because both are hot air blowholes. They are pretty quiet about Kasich and he is the one polling the best against Hillary... The Rhinos are taking him out of the game though

I'm not from the Cruz camp...............but it is clear that Trump is insurgent..............and the last thing the Status Quo is a challenge from outside the inner circle..................Therefore, this threat must be destroyed by all and any means...............To the Status Quo........aka the establihment............it doesn't matter which side wins as long as it stays the same path for them..............So both sides attack.
