Just a few pics and tips from my latest trip:

Both Senegal and The Gambia are amazing destinations, and well worth the effort. Both are very safe, and I didn't meet anyone who had had any problems at all. People are friendly and welcoming, although the touts in the tourist markets can be amazingly in-your-face.

Senegal does require some French, as few people speak English. I used Spanish from time-to-time, as that is more widely spoken than English, and my French is rotten. Gambia is English speaking. Both countries are moderate Madibou Islamic - alcohol is available everywhere, and women do not wear a veil.

The main things to do in the area is bird watching - which is actually quite fun when we are talking pelicans, parrots and eagles, with dolphins, monkeys and hyena usually living in the same wetland areas.
