In some school districts that have been experiencing changing demographics in recent decades, student populations have been shifting under the feet of teachers, some of whom do not have extensive experience working with students who have particular needs. Over the past few years many teachers have been required to undergo additional training and testing to work with SEI students (for example). Some teachers who have only ever worked in certain areas with certain populations have found this transition difficult or even overly burdensome. I don't blame them, as it is much more complex than it might seem at first glance.

Things are always changing, and not often in ways that make things simpler for teachers, but the needs of the students - all the students - must come first.

More reason why teachers should be paid adequately for what they do, and why they shouldn't have to spend their own money for school supplies.

If people who aren't satisfied with their salaries keep working at their jobs, why would we pay them more? Salaries are based on how many qualified people are willing to take the job and on nothing else
