"Judeo-Christian philosophy requires judgments about wrong and right and personal behavior. The secularists deplore that. They want an open society, where anything goes, including...explicit images..."

Whenever I watch Bill O'Reilly it seems he is always blaming the secularists for everyting wrong in America.

Recently he has brought up that secularists are at fault for the explicit images on T.V, the internet(porn) and film.

As for the explicit images on tv, film and the internet aren't all viewer driven? That is to say if people aren't watching, usually a show gets cancelled or a movie leaves theatres early. And since America has anout a 90% Christian population doesn't that mean that overwhelmingly it is that same Christian population driving up the ratings on shows with explicit content??

Why is Bill blaming the secularists for all the crap on tv, cuz it looks like even if all the secularists wanted this kinda stuff to be shown it wouldn't be enough to drive ratings high enough, or make enough money for movies. To me it looks like there has to be a boat load of Christians doing and wanting the same thing as the damned secularists for these things to be so damn popular.

Well?

Its because an extremely loud minority of the religious right is trying to persuade the american people that the entertainment companies, part of the vast leftwing secular atheist movement, is responsible and that we, as humble people with deep down christian values and morals, are only having these explicit images forced upon us by the same amoral and anti christian people running these entertainment companies.

Well, he used to be a "pissed off liberal"!

Can someone explain secular to me. I loked it up in Miriams, and still don't get it. Can someone give me an analogy?

According to Bill, anyone who isn't a Christian and hates moral values.

But a real definition is...
1) Religious skepticism or indifference.
2) The view that religious considerations should be excluded from civil affairs or public education

Not bound by monastic restrictions, especially not belonging to a religious order.

To my way of understanding, it's keeping religion out of discussions/public forums. Pretend it has nothing to do with anything, which of course is as much of a fallacy here as in the ME or Rome. To my take, it's the reason behind moral relativism.

Yeah, same as I got. Thanks to all. I understand now.

Seems to be a tad over used term then IMO in the news and media.

Hmmm, now that I understand it, they will probably come up with a new cathc phrase.

:D

Now that we got what a secularist is out of the way, what about my post.;)

I would add that most people who proclaim "Christianity" are also NOT Christian. Add the fact that most who are have weaknesses and watch the very stuff they claim to condemn, and you have a case of a majority of people who unfairly assume to represent Christianity as a whole.

The only ones responsible for what is or is not on TV is society itself.

Everyone has a choice. To some degree, I agree with what NewGuy posted. Everyone has their own values and convictions - and eventhose appear to sometimes be for sale to the highest bidder.

Society can easily dictate what they do or do not want on the air waves. We can boycott advertisers, elect politicians that concurr with and will represent our views etc.

Too much blame gets passed around IMO and is a result of people not wanting to take responsibility so it IS easier to pass the buck.

The opinion expressed above is the opinion of the poster and not necessarily that of the management!

LOL Kudos!

Who was speaking of dysfunctional families? Too funny.

Nah, I got AC right now...... :D

Tonight, 6 hours from now, I will be in hell again.

:dev1:

The thing is that my AC is out at home and I haven't been able to get the parts I need.

I have to rely on a whole house fan. -Which is fine except it doesn't vent my computer room which has 2-3 machines running at all times.

Here's a thought.

Why is anyone wasting time in front of the 27" sewer pipe anyway?

I don't.

Just think how many productive hours, how much family time, and how many brain cells could be salvaged.

Hmmmmm.......

THAT would change the material as well.

Hey ask John what he knows about AC. I heard he did a heck of a job on Jim's water heater! :flameth:

As I only have one functioning brain cell left anyway, I confine my boob toob time to real intellectual material like "Survivor" and "Forensic Files".
