Reuters really should find someone that can keep personal biases out of "reporting" the news.
What in the hell is a "moderate conservative", anyways?
Several years ago, SCOTUS was "primed" to overturn Roe v. Wade, but Kennedy supposedly backed out. It's inevitable.
Good catches on the loaded language, UAY.
They also sometimes say, "roll back civil rights," the presumption being that quotas are somehow moving us FORWARD. Right.
UAY: I agree with some of those claims and others I don't. The court is shifting right wing as far as anyone is concerned. And they really didn't try to get a moderate person to take O'Connor's place.
William Joyce, you speak the truth.
There is a code for the left for sure, "rollback" means "continuation of racial preferences" when you run that through the translator.
BUT that dont make this any lesser of an evil
Whose claims, the reporter's, or mine?
My problem was with the biased language in the link, the writer of that made it perfectly clear he dreaded future SCOTUS rulings.
You'd think so, but SCOTUS sure has fooled me before!
So? The ideological balance of SCOTUS can and should change, even when it happens not to benefit you.
Meh, Scalia's right, a moderate is a jurist that finds the midpoint from what the Constitution says and what he/she want it to say.
In all fairness, assuming a democrat is elected president in 2008, after 2006 elections which change power to democrats, do you really think that a 'moderate' would be appointed to SCOTUS if the opportunitiy arose, rather than what would be considered a 'sure pro-choice' appointment?
I had to listen to this guy on a review CD. :coffee3:
Anyhoo, I was going to sum up what , hmmmm, the poster, unamericanyou, did, but he did a much better job. bravo.
Complete BS, they whine and moan over the "far right" or simply "right" courts, yet toast their bubblies all day when the lefties rule the roost. My post grad education was so liberal it was sick. I actually got castigated for voicing a "righty" opinion. That is what I felt like doing, but hey, I was the student, so I .
Enough leftist legislating from the bench, give stare decisis some meaning. Of course some things do change, but the left, its like every day brings a "new public policy" event.
A liberal who takes a couple of mildly conservative stances and so claims to be a conservative.
