Sandusky......who is REQUIRED to report?

Mike McQueary attended Jerry Sandusky fundraiser one year after making sexual assault allegations

A story published in June of 2003 in the Centre Daily Times -- the local State College newspaper -- shows that assistant football coach Mike McQueary was among those who attended a fundraiser organized by Jerry Sandusky, the man he told authorities he witnessed sexually assaulting a boy about a year prior.

The fundraiser was a golf tournament for The Second Mile, the charity Sandusky founded in 1977, and the place where grand jurors allege he found boys he could molest.

The story, in part, reads:

"Several former Penn State football players and coaches will be participating. Among those will be Kurt Allerman, Chris Bahr, Ralph Baker, Todd Blackledge, Bob Campbell, Tom Cherry, Rich D'Amico, Tom Donchez, John Ebersole, Scott Fitzkee, Fran Ganter, Eddie Johnson, Mike McQueary, Chet Parlavecchio, Wally Richardson, John Skorupan, Larry and Paul Suhey, Blair Thomas and Leo Wisniewski to name a few."

In Tennessee, everyone is required by law to report suspected child abuse.

DCS sorts out which cases are credible.

I thought this was the law everywhere, and was surprised that PA required so little.

It varies by state. And as I said earlier, you can't depend on the child to concur with your report. Just this week I had a patient whose grown children had been abused by a family member. One of them would not confirm it had happened to her until long after she reached adulthood. If the child does not acknowledge having been a victim, the case is pretty well done. And the person you accused has a credible lawsuit against you.

No, they don't. You call DCS and report. DCS doesn't contact the suspected abuser and give them your name and address.

Sometimes they figure it out. And there are people who make threats before they make the call.

Suit filed over wrongful child-abuse allegation | recordonline.com

In Condoluci's case, officials failed to question the fact that the call to the state hot line came from a pastor reporting hearsay about her family from a third-party source, Condoluci said. Condoluci allowed that reasonable cause, such as visible bruises or telling statements by a child, might justify an unfettered CPS investigation. But "that's different from somebody calling and saying I heard from someone else that there were concerns of abuse," she said. Defense lawyers in the case argue that their clients were just following state law. "The law was not violated," said Lewis Silverman, the Manhattan lawyer representing the school district.

I worked in psychiatry in TN for two decades. I saw the result of all that reporting. AS IF ANYONE THERE ACTUALLY DID REPORT AND/OR AS IF IT ISN'T LEGAL TO FUCK YOUR FIRST COUSIN THERE! WHICH IT IS.

McQuerry should've been fired while Paterno be suspended with pay and the Univ. Pres shouldve been fired instead of suspension with pay. McQuerry was the one who SEEN it all happen and who's he call first? his dad of all people which he told him to just leave. Then he told Paterno. Now i think Paterno did the right thing cause he was going by what he heard, not what he seen. I can't say enough how despicable it is to even have thoughts of molestation in a whole, but i firmly believe that Paterno did the right thing with what little he really did know. Dont let the news/media whatever you call it, give you your info on this case or any case because you know your only getting enough input from them to convict someone without really knowing what evidence is out there

It is rarely who you think it is:

(CNN) -- Pennsylvania needs to change its law in the wake of a scandal over alleged child sexual abuse by a then-member of Penn State's football coaching team, the governor said Sunday.

A new law is needed to make sure reports of alleged child sexual abuse are made to government authorities, Tom Corbett said.

"Should the law be changed? Absolutely," Corbett said on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Corbett was the attorney general who began an investigation of former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.

A 23-page grand jury report released last weekend described crimes that Sandusky allegedly committed against young boys between 1994 and 2009 -- some of them on campus, both during and after his tenure at at Penn State.

Sandusky's attorney, Joseph Amendola, has said that his client disputes the report.

In 2002, a graduate assistant allegedly saw Sandusky raping a boy in the showers of a campus athletics facility. The graduate student, Mike McQueary, informed Joe Paterno, the team's coach at the time, according to the grand jury report. Paterno then alerted his boss, the school's athletic director.

It was years before law enforcement first learned about the allegation.

Penn State Athletic Director Timothy Curley and Senior Vice President for Finance and Business Gary Schultz have been charged for failing to report the abuse to authorities and misleading investigators. Prosecutors determined that a legal duty to report the alleged abuse applied to them, but not to McQueary and Paterno.

Frankly, I don't give a shit if they were legally required to report it or not.

I hope both they and many others in that infested cesspool burn in hell for what they enabled.

Cowards, the lot of them.
