If he is guilty as charged, he reaps from what he sowed .
Regardless , it is highly risky to work for a CIA front (WSJ) if you are based in Russia .
So zero sympathy .
As it happens, he could be a useful guy to have in a future hostage swap stuation .

Would appear to be another hostage move...a bargaining chip, as it were. Of course, Gershkovich has made The Wagner Group, and by extension Putin, look like incompetent fools several times recently...so there's that~

Gershkovich has reported exclusively from Russia. After stints with the Moscow Times and Agence France-Presse, he joined the Wall Street Journal in January 2022 to cover Russia, Ukraine and other countries in the former Soviet Union.
“When you start reporting in Russia, you often hear that it will be very hard to get people to talk. And while that may be true of Russian officialdom — though not all of it — I have found that if you go looking for the right people, many of them want to tell their stories,” he said in 2020. “Of course, some will want their comments to be from an unnamed source, which means, as a reporter, you have to make sure you speak to them over encrypted channels and protect their identities. But they’re out there. You just have to go looking for them.”

There is the old adage, "Be careful what you look for...you just might find it.

US media portrays Gershkovich as an innocent reporter, pretending Operation Mockingbird never took place, but US media is but the lapdog for the Deep State.

Even as they cry crocodile tears for Evan, they cheer for the governments in keeping Julian Assange imprisoned for many years for exposing the crimes of western governments.
