Roommate of Kaci Hickox diagnosed with Ebola - Yet another obama screwup

Nigeria is now free of Ebola virus transmission

The lines on the tabular situation reports, sent to WHO each day by its country office in Nigeria, have now been full of zeros for 42 days.

WHO officially declares that Nigeria is now free of Ebola virus transmission.

The WHO says the incubation period is 42 days.... Who would you believe, the CDC that has seen 5 victims, or the WHO, who has seen tens of thousands of victims?

Flakey, might have to flip a coin on this one!

No, they don't. Seriously, this stuff is easy to check. Lying about it just makes you look foolish.

From the WHO website:

Symptoms of Ebola virus disease

The incubation period, that is, the time interval from infection with the virus to onset of symptoms is 2 to 21 days. Humans are not infectious until they develop symptoms. First symptoms are the sudden onset of fever fatigue, muscle pain, headache and sore throat. This is followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, symptoms of impaired kidney and liver function, and in some cases, both internal and external bleeding (e.g. oozing from the gums, blood in the stools). Laboratory findings include low white blood cell and platelet counts and elevated liver enzymes.

Ebola WHO Cites Cases With Longer Incubation Period of 42 Days#

"95% of the exposed population will manifest the disease within twenty one days, it is true, however these studies show that there are outlying cases which a person could still be infected and could manifest the disease for up to 42 days after exposure."

I see your article is from Sept., a month BEHIND the current update!

Would the left wing rag, the Daily Kos LIE to their readers.... It seems "revenge is a dish best served cold".... I believe it's you that looks like a fool, but only IMHO, of course!

The "42 days" refers to the time required by WHO to pass with no new cases in order for a country to be declared ebola-free - it's twice the incubation period.

Oh, by the way… those airport screenings probably don’t work anyway!

Hot Air.com ^

Ed mentioned earlier today that Canada will be joining the group of nations instituting travel bans and/or quarantines from Ebola afflicted nations, while the United States will stick with the airport screening route. But don't worry, Im sure that will work out just fine. These scientific studies show that airport Ebola screenings are largely ineffectiveThose travelers now have to submit to temperature checks and questioning. But scientific studies published by the National Institutes of Health have shown that similar protocols were largely ineffective during an outbreak of Swine Flu in 2009, as Government Executive pointed out in an article last...

Doc, you must learn to read ALL the article, apparently you missed..

Is it worth a gamble, as they did with AIDS?

We shouldn't let any americans go to these ebola nations or let anyone there come here. Tell stupid africa to solve it's own problems. I know that's tough when your continent has an average IQ of 68, but africans have to take care of themselves.

Report Kaci Hickox s Roommate In Africa Has Ebola The Daily Caller

oct 31 2014
A Maine official said Friday that Kaci Hickox’s roommate while she helped Ebola patients in Africa has been diagnosed with Ebola, WAGM-TV reports.

“The respondent’s roommate in Africa became infected without knowing how she became infected with Ebola,” said Sheila Pinette with the Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, adding that “any potential risk to respondent from that incident has passed.”

It’s also unclear exactly how Dallas nurses Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, the only two people to become infected with Ebola within the U.S., contracted the disease.

Hickox worked as a nurse treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone with Doctors Without Borders and was the subject of a forced, three-day quarantine in New Jersey when she registered a slight fever when she returned to the U.S.

You do know the story of the boy who cried wolf don't you??? Is there anything that the right doesn't shit itself over?!

You mean like global warming? No hysteria there, right?

How is this a screw up when Kaci Hickox hasn't even been diagnosed with, nor has she even shown signs of Ebola?

Sorry................but you can't quarantine someone until they show signs of the disease (and that is the only way they are a threat to our society).

I mean shit.................many people have been far more infectious and been allowed to roam this country freely.

I read the article and this statement is quite clear.

"95% of the exposed population will manifest the disease within twenty one days, it is true, however these studies show that there are outlying cases which a person could still be infected and could manifest the disease for up to 42 days after exposure."

Why would the WHO require 42 days to declare a country ebola free if the incubation period is only 21 days?

2 to 21 days for symptoms to appear, yup

vigilante if you would tell the whole story at once, you might have some respect around here

when you play for just points, you are like the little boy at the foul line who drops the ball almost everytime

What you are saying is that the symptoms don't appear in 21 days, you will not get ebola, but a person could still be infected and could manifest the disease in as long as 42 days. Maybe you should look up the word manifest.

" these studies show that there are outlying cases which a person could still be infected and could manifest the disease for up to 42 days after exposure."

While you are looking that word up, explain why the WHO didn't declare Nigerial ebola free after 22 instead of 42 days.

I read that and that doesn't mean a thing. That's just an obama spokesman who said that. THINK

It is funny because the passing of time just keeps proving all the chicken littles to be wrong. They can't get around that despite every exaggeration of Ebola transmission, every prediction of pandemic if Ebola every entered a major US city, every loony claim about how long Ebola can hide .... yet no pandemic.

The nutters have been proven flat out wrong, and the people in the CDC who said Ebola would be contained if it arrived in the US were correct.

Yet here we are they keep on flailing away with new fear points. When we come back in another month and there is no Ebola in Maine, and their fears are again proven unfounded, I'm sure we'll have some new stuff thrown about.

So, the roommate Kaci Hickox lived with while in Africa, has now come down with Ebola?

Was the roommate also an aid worker, working directly with Ebola patients?

Or was the roommate a shoe clerk somewhere, who stayed far away from anyone who had Ebola? Meaning, maybe the only way she could have picked it up, was from Kaci Hickox herself???

Who was the roommate, what was her profession, and did she ever spend time in contact with people who had Ebola? If not, then how does dear Kaci feel now about the chances of her transmitting Ebola to innocent people? Most people who get Ebola, die from it (70% fatality rate). The roommate probably will too. Is Kaci at all concerned that she might have killed this woman, in ways that she is still deliberately practicing in public in the U.S.?
