A newly acquired surveillance video shows a group of armed men robbing a cab driver as they carried out a crime spree across the North Side last week.
Barely ten minutes after the footage was recorded, the same group of criminals’ night of crime came to a quick end when they tried to rob a concealed-carry holder nearby. He got into a gunfight with them.

Chicago police believe the men in the video you’re about to see committed nine robberies in less than an hour on the morning of January 30. Each of the victims reported that the robbers had guns and arrived in two cars: an SUV and a white sedan.

Barely two minutes later, the men struck again in the 5400 block of North Kenmore and again in the 1100 block of West Balmoral. Finally, at 4:22 a.m., they unwisely targeted an armed concealed-carry license holder in the 5400 block of North Winthrop.
One gunman stepped out of one of the vehicles to demand the victim’s valuables. The victim countered by pulling out his firearm and engaging the robber in a gunfight, according to a CPD statement. No injuries were reported. And no more robberies were reported that morning, either.
