Right wingnut radio dying - needs to be put to sleep

All of the talk show host see that the majority of callers are supportive. Most hosts have their producer screen the calls to select intelligent supporters and opposition nut cases. I listened to an entire Limbaugh broadcast. There were no calls from the opposition. I listened to Thom Hartmann, a left wing talk show host. His callers were about 80 to 90% leftwing.

I listen to Andrew Wilkow and Mark Levin. Both put liberals through before taking conservative callers

It does not matter what you want. You don't get to decide. It is called Freespeech for a reason. You have the right to change the station, that is it. I have a right to listen to whom ever I want. Mind your own damn business you control freak.

Yet these guys have made millions because there are people who agree with them. They have the right to there opinions without your approvel and censorship from the left. Everyone is entiled to Freespeech regardless of background. There are millions of listeners who enjoy their shows everyday. Thank God it is not up to you and the Commies that want to shut them down.

Instead of these hacks, we need more real news and political commentators, people with real talent and ideas, the likes of:
Gore Vidal
William F. Buckley
John Cameron Swaysee
Walter Cronkrite
Edward R. Murrow
John Chancellor
Bob Schieffer

That is your opinion. I have no interest in a shows featuring any of those you have listed. I will stick to Andrew Wilkow and Mark Levin shows.

If you have not heard Andrew Wilkow, here he is talking about censorship and public radio

If you're looking for someone to tell you what to think or to reinforce your beliefs, then talk radio is for you. For the rest of us, it's a waste.

Only if you ignore the fact that it is not scripted and that you can pretty much call in any time and speak your mind. Didn't your handlers inform you about that??? Wasn't it included in your talking points???   Give it a rest.

It could be that everybody has already gotten the message that Obama is a dirt bag and moved on to something else like listening to baseball. Baseball is a little bit different than Obama. In baseball, after 3 strikes you're out. With Obama, he's already struck out but continues swinging and as usual misses the ball.

sure. it's in your head.

I'm sure that comforts you, too, but no.

i'm afraid it is, especially if you think this thread is any indication of 'the left's contempt for free speech'

No, the left's contempt for free speech is indication of the left's contempt for free speech.

Now, leftists think they have good reasons for trying to deny people their freedom of expression, but it always boils down to "They're saying things I don't like!"

you're evidence boils down to one person - al sharpton - advocating for something stupid. congratulations, you found stories about sharpton making an ass of himself. that must have been hard.

so that's the first and last link - the rest amount to contempt of speaker, not speech. that's something i'm perfectly fine with.

Good tactic. Stick your fingers in your ears and shout "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!"

I find them extemely unAmerican. What else would you call people who are constantly trying to sow dissension amongst their fellow Americans? Fifth columnists?!?!

Dean do me a favor. Compare Rush's total audience on the radio 5 years ago to today and tell me what you find.

Just in case you dont decide to do this I will tell you that yes rush's ratings have dropped in the last few months but compared to 5 years ago he is still up in his listenership.

Its hard to take you very serious with your blatant disregard for this fact and your comment about conservatives being 90% white, another incorrect "fact"
Compared to 5 years ago your MesasiahRushie has lost 40% of his claimed 25 million audience. The pathological liar has said he would quit if he lost 40% of his audience, but he hasn't quit. Instead he claims his audience has grown to the largest it has ever been. :eusa_liar:
And you swallowed it whole!!!

I really don’t understand why so many people need to have their beliefs reinforced daily. You know the host’s position on almost ever subject. Why listen to it over and over. You learn so much more by hearing both sides of the issue.

Im a pain in the ass I know but 14.2 million was his regular viewership that only had a sipke to 25mil in a controversy.

My percent increase was wrong but according to the information at hand his audience is bigger now than its normal, non controversy driven spike, numbers were from that article.

Or did I misread what they wrote when they said his regular viewership of 14.2 million spiked during the controversy? If it was a permanent bump then yeah, he is way down now, if its not he is almost at the same place and just a tiny bit higher.

Well, if you want to believe your MessiahRushie, he has always had an audience between 20 and 25 million.

June 14, 2007
RUSH: Meantime, this audience is 22 million -- and we're learning, by the way, it's even larger than that. I can't give away trade secrets, but there's a revolutionary new way that radio ratings are being taken, and it's been tested in a couple cities and we're finding in Philadelphia, the "cume" is twice what we thought it was. It's going to be awhile before they roll this out into all of the markets that are rated. But it's going to be even more than 22 million people.

April 16, 2010
RUSH: when you add up all the non-dupes over the course of the week, which is called a cume, it's about 20 to 25 million depending on vagaries of ratings books, PPM and so forth. But it's a large number.

I dont actually listen to Rush Limbaugh, I listen to Michael Graham, ED Lambert, and Jim Browdy.

I was trying to go off the real numbers, not libaugh's claims.

The thing is, nobody knows the real numbers. I put his audience at around 2 million and change, based on the letter he auctioned on eBay. He got barely 1 million hits after telling his audience to go check the auction, even if they aren't bidding, to see what the price was up to. eBay only counts the IP address once no matter how many times the same person visits. He flogged it for over a week on his show and several days on FOX TV. Before he went on FOX he had only 300,000 UNIQUE hits, it was the FOX appearances near the end of the bidding that put him slightly over a million, so I don't believe his audience is anywhere near his exaggerated claims.

If this board is an indication, almost nobody listens to him, ....
or at least that will admit to it! :eusa_whistle:

How many people actually listen to Rush Limbaugh, the radio talk titan White House officials have spent the past week characterizing as "the head of the Republican Party"?
According to what Limbaugh delights in calling "the drive-by media," the number varies wildly. Is it 30 million (Pat Buchanan on MSNBC), 20 million (Time magazine, ABC News), 19 million (Fox News), 14 million (CNN), or "14.2 million to about 25 million" (The Washington Post)?
Answer: Maybe.
