repubs voted for unemployment extensions under GW but won't now....

whats the difference?

Even Better questions would be.

Why did Obama make a big deal about the fact that the last extension had to be paid for, and even made a point as to let us all know it was paid for when he announced he was signing it. Yet now he refuses to use the over 400 Billion in stimulus money left unspent right now to pay for this one.

Ill tell you why, Because he could not try and blame the Republicans if he did that.

Another question.

Why did several Democrats including Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus not only agree with Obama last time, that they should be paid for, but also said 99 weeks was plenty and we could not just go on and on with benefits.

Say Anything Democrats Decide That 99 Weeks Of Unemployment Benefits Is Enough
Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus says that 99 weeks is sufficient. “You can’t go on forever”, the Montana Democrat said.

“There’s just been no discussion to go beyond that,” said Senator Byron Dorgan, a North Dakota Democrat.

Ill tell you why....Because they needed an issue to try and make the Republicans look bad. And that's why.

This is very low of the Democrats, and they are getting away with it because of their friends in the main Stream media.

They are lying through their teeth. There plenty of money left unspent from the stimulus bill. You know the one we had to pass right away or the end was coming. Over half of it is still unspent over a year later.

All the republicans are asking, is exactly what Obama wanted last time, To use some of those funds to pay for the bill.

The Democrats have shamefully played politics with this issue, and because of it, even if they pass it tomorrow 2.5 million people have been out of benefits for several weeks, and will not get another check for 6 more.

Way to go Democrats, thanks for FUCKING us in the ass to try and smear the Republicans for wanting to behave responsibly and pay for these Benefits in the Very same way Obama and the Dems demanded they be paid for last time.

The fact that so many of you are falling for their ploy is very sad indeed.

Exactly Mr. Main! Also IF those stimulus funds would have "worked" there would not be millions STILL unemployed. After all that was how Obama sold the American People on that farce.

HMMMM,

Obama and the Dems wanted the last extension paid for with Stimulus funds, and did in fact pay for it.

Why not this one?

I believe it's because Obama is trying to save as much stimulus as he can to do something after the cencus people drop off, like find something else for them to do. Unemployment sky rocketing right before November, OIE! No good!

I know. We can cut taxes for the rich. That solves everything. - Republican philosophy.

good grief, why don't we just make UNEMPLOYMENT a new entitlement.

sheesh, why the hell am I WORKING again.

You're probably trying to keep your self-esteem in tact, unlike millions of others, who have little or no pride. If you have children you are teaching them a valuable lesson. Earn your self-respect for it can come no other way. "Children learn what they live."

Unemployment IS an entitlement. It comes out of the employer's pocket, not the employees. This is money that the owner would have received. It is instead, transferred to the government for redistribution to someone else.

whats the difference?

How many years do you believe this country will be able to "support" unemployed workers--the first question. Under Bush--the economy wasn't this bad--where anyone who lost a job--could get one back in a few months--not years.

Secondly--Republicans have no problem what-so-ever for extending unemployment benefits--their requirement is that the billions of dollars are "paid" for and not borrowed. Last extension was taken out of the 787 stimulus bill. The difference is Obama--doesn't want to pay for this extension--by cutting waste or other government spending--he just wants to borrow it from China--:lol:

And that's the difference.

whats the difference?

Now there really isn't any more money left,no more can be borrowed,we haven't gotten to the point where we just start printing it like a third world country. But I'm sure that day is coming. Why is everyone having a problem with people asking how are we going to pay for it.

There wasn't money to pay for it under Bush. So?
When Bush's tax cuts come up for renewal, they need to be done away with because...
Now there really isn't any more money left,no more can be borrowed

whats the difference?

The difference is 1) that repubs were not the cause for the unemployment. 2) that it did n ot get extended over and over. (This president cannot cover up his agenda for very long by this kind of deceptive manipulation)

Why do you want to make shit up? Fact is the Republicans would vote to extend unemployment benefits as they already done once. But the Republicans wants to pay for it, not add more to the increasing debt.

You got that right Lone.

This is just an issue that OL'BO and the Dems want to beat the Reps with.

I was watching O'Reilly last night and he had two guests on. This was one of the topics under discussion. THe Reps want to use the stimulus money TO PAY FOR the benefits extention. The Dems just need an issue they can run with.

I watched Morning Joe this morning and you didn't hear one word about what the Reps wanted to do. Just that they were not for the extention.

FOX or MSNBC. Guess we can see which one was more FAIR AND BALANCED. The stimulus money is all sitting there. Use the damned stuff. Jeeze.

The REAL difference is that BUSH had a fucking SURPLUS that he gave away to the rich for no particular reason. He didn't include either war in his budget. He invaded some other country for fun and profit.

3 million jobs were created under Bush and the Republicans. Under Clinton it was 26 million. But what do you expect? No one can name a single thing the Republicans have done for the last 20 years that helped this country. The fuckers.

Republicans keep saying, "But the rich give us jobs". Hey, if the "rich" want to go someplace else, let them go. They already moved jobs overseas. They take their money and put it in off shore accounts so they don't have to pay taxes.

REAL Americans, NOT Republicans, want to invest in this country. They want the country strong. If the rich threaten to go to China if they aren't given a free ride, fuck 'em. Go to China. Who cares?

Republicans just want to squeeze the country dry their corporate masters who might throw them a bone if they are lucky.

Our founders would be turning over in their graves for what Republicans have done to this country.

It's a shame that once reputable news organizations won't tell the public the truth. I'd argue that the mainstream media in this country is abusing the 1st Amendment as it regards to the press.

Hell, someone's gotta pay real taxes to help support our 'card-house.'
Plus, consider the gain in self-respect. Can't put a dollar value on that!

Are you making more than 290 a week?

290 a week is 7.25/hr.

If you can't find a job making at least 7.25 an hour, that is your own fault There are plenty of jobs paying that much.

Greetings from Las Vegas n-elitist, or maybe super elitist.
McDonald's here in April had a central hiring for like 50 positions.
700 plus people showed up.
Unemployment HAS become an entitlement.
It has replaced welfare as an 'agent' of social control. Actually, it is saving your butt (and others) from the growing teeming masses of the long term unemployed, whom sooner or later, will directly take from you.
