Republican Officials Partnering With Christian Extremists

"The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both.

I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in 'A,' 'B,' 'C,' and 'D.' Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me? And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of 'conservatism.' " - Barry Goldwater
(1909-1998) US Senator (R-Arizona) Source: Congressional Record, September 16, 1981

"Well, I've spent quite a number of years carrying the flag of the 'Old Conservatism.' And I can say with conviction that the religious issues of these groups have little or nothing to do with conservative or liberal politics. The uncompromising position of these groups is a divisive element that could tear apart the very spirit of our representative system, if they gain sufficient strength." -Goldwater

"When you say 'radical right' today, I think of these moneymaking ventures by fellows like Pat Robertson and others who are trying to take the Republican Party and make a religious organization out of it. If that ever happens, kiss politics goodbye."

"Every good Christian should line up and kick Jerry Falwell's ass."

we live in a world where "extremist" refers to people burning people alive, crucifying children, selling girls into slavery, sending young women into marketplaces with enormously powerful bombs strpped to their bodies, torturing people, beheading people............................and you're posting some shit about somebody that wants to return to our Christians roots?

i should not laugh at you why????

Ah...return to our good ole Christian roots.

Back when our first 60 years every U.S. President was a slaveowner, save two.

Give us that ole time relijun!

So slavery is a feature of Christianity?

I mean, the Muslim allies that you leftists depend on in your war on America were stalwart fighters for justice against slavery, right Comrade?

Oh, and you good Socialists have clean hands, never engaging in forced labor, right?

You're call me a DORK? Seriously? You have no idea what I am. Are you in the 5th grade that you have to talk like that.? It does nothing for your credibility you know. If you had anything of substance you would not have to resort to name calling:argue:

And when did you choose heterosexuality? (making an assumption here...you may not have chosen heterosexuality)

Ah yes, the old leftist standby - anyone who fails to faithfully recite party dogma is a queer - because according to you demagogues, NOTHING is worse than being a queer, so I will fall into line for fear of you leftists calling me queer.

So WHO are are the homophobes in reality?
Simply not true. There is nothing wrong with being gay...there is nothing wrong with being straight. Just asking you when you chose to be straight. No reason for you to go all defensive there, Skippy.

And the Dems ARE a collection of hardcore Socialists and Communists...

Which is worse? I guess it depends on your values, or lack thereof.

so Lane is pushing pastors to get into public office....?

that probably scares the pants off the anti-God secularists....how would they deal with honest God-fearing representatives of the people who have integrity....?

And where in the constitution does it prohibit people of faith from public service? Yeah, nowhere.

I chose to be straight the first time I saw a nice set of breasts. I was hooked.

Rafael Cruz: 'The Devil Overplayed His Hand' With SCOTUS Gay Marriage Decision
8/27/15 @ 1:33pm

As we have noted before, Rafael Cruz, father of senator and Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz, is essentially a poor man's David Barton since a significant amount of his stump speech consists of information that he has lifted directly from Barton's own presentations.

During his speech, which was clearly a campaign event for his son as the father is a frequent campaign surrogate and he finished his remarks by explaining why Ted is the best candidate in the GOP primary before handing out endorsement forms to those in attendance, the elder Cruz declared that "the Devil overplayed his hand" with the gay marriage decision. "The Devil always overplays his hand," he said, "and the Devil overplayed his hand with that decision on June 26. You've got to realize that that decision was not about homosexual marriage, that decision was a decision against religious liberty. - See more at: Rafael Cruz: 'The Devil Overplayed His Hand' With SCOTUS Gay Marriage Decision

No extremism here. No sir. Oh , and I would not call you a queer. Queers are good people.

Simply not true. There is nothing wrong with being gay...there is nothing wrong with being straight.

It took you a month to respond

IF there is nothing wrong with being queer, then what makes you think you can insult conservatives by calling them queers?

Anyone questioning the homosexual agenda will have some leftist instantly firing off "when you coming out?"

Obviously you view it as the most damaging insult you can muster.

Just asking you when you chose to be straight. No reason for you to go all defensive there, Skippy.

You just can't help yourself. Since nothing is worse than being queer, you figure you can wound me by intimating that I'm a secret queer.

The connecting tissue between Kristian Fundmentalists (kristian with a k because they are not really Christians, they pretend to be) is real. This has been going on for 2-3 decades.

It remains to be seen how desperate these people will become as the demographics are pushing the Republican party further and further from being able to win national elections.
So please tell us what a real christian is?

Someone that lives as Christ lived.

Christ washed the feet of the poor and denounced the moneychangers.

Conservatives in the U.S. spit on the poor and worship at the feet of the wealthy. The are in fact anti-Christ.

Lies and lefty propaganda.
RealClearPolitics - Articles - Conservatives More Liberal Givers
Although liberal families' incomes average 6 percent higher than those of conservative families, conservative-headed households give, on average, 30 percent more to charity than the average liberal-headed household ($1,600 per year vs. $1,227).

-- Conservatives also donate more time and give more blood.

The Conservatives also want some of the programs that are in place now.
They just want it managed better, have less on government programs and want more people working.

A bigoted “Christian” Kentucky clerk thinks his job gives him the authority to tell people they are going to hell and that God and biblical law rule America instead of the Constitution.

During a radio interview on Monday, Kentucky County Clerk Casey Davis told host Tom Roten that the Supreme Court isn’t the highest law in the land. According to Davis and his total ignorance of the American system of government, God is the ultimate authority and the Bible is the highest law.

The extremists feed idiots like this a load of shit and then they think that they can get away with it.

Our Constitutional Republic Gov. was never secular. We have had Chaplain's paid by taxes since the beginning.
Our Founders were inclusive for all who needed spiritual comfort.
Not the anti- Christian haters of today that wants all religion out of government.

Our Constitutional Republic Gov. was never secular. We have had Chaplain's paid by taxes since the beginning.
Our Founders were inclusive for all who needed spiritual comfort.
Not the anti- Christian haters of today that wants all religion out of government.

A Constitutional Republic is BY DEFINITION secular. The fact that there are a few entanglement with religion like these Chaplains, or that clergy can legally marry people and the tax exempt status of religious institution- all of which are questionable practices -does not negate the fact that it is a secular nation. And what is that about "spiritual comfort and inclusiveness" ??? How does that change anything?

There is no religious test for public office

Christianity is not mentioned in the constitution

Religion is mentioned only in the context of a prohibition on an official religion or favoritism for a religion.

The courts only consider religion in the context of the extent and nature of religious freedom....but they do not entertain religious objections to issues like same sex marriage.

And there is this:

The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."
--John Adams

As we witness yet again the brutal and bloody consequences of religious intolerance in the form of ISIS, we have a majority of Republicans pining for a Christian America. Proponents of converting the United States into a theocracy do not see the terrible parallel between religious excess in the Middle East and here at home, but they would not because blindness to reason is the inevitable consequence of religious zealotry.
