Reconciliation...

Democrats need to ask themselves what the Republicans would do in this situation

No brainer....RECONCILLIATION

Majority vote wins

Yes, it will win and just what exactly will that win bring? Here's the thing. Say I'm a Democrat in a election situation in November. I represent a district that seems to not be in favor of this bill. If I vote against it, I might survive November. If I vote for it, I risk losing in November. Further, if my fellow Democrats don't pass the bill, but I voted for it, I lose and have nothing to show for it health care reform-wise. Double whammy. So I play along with Pelosi until the vote. She can't get back at all of us who voted the bill down.

If the Democrats keep voting on what they see as the whims of the voters they don't deserve to be in power.
Republicans never gave a shit about the upcoming elections. They had an agenda to accomplish and drove it home regardless of the consequences.

Dems need to grow some balls

Oh, the Democrats are in power. I thought they were there to represent us. Those whims, they are the will of the people. Concentrate on limited government and fiscal responsibility versus power and control.

I wish somebody told that to Bush and Cheney after late summer 2005 and that they had listened to such advice.

REVOLUTION

American people win .....

They already have..

Sent the GOP into exile for their miserable performance

Pull that reconciliation shit and the "exile for their miserable performance" will have been a stroll in the park compared to what has and will happen to the dems ...........

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do

If you run around afraid of your shadow, nothing gets done. Pass the damn bill for the good of the country and stand up like a man.

Let the Republicans get their seats....they can't do anything with them anyway and we will have a healthcare bill

Geez...........I gotta remind this guy at least once a week that it is 2010:lol:

This whole debacle is a win-win for conservatives which ever way it goes. Most people supporting this k00k bill dont even realize they will start to be taxed immediately but the programs dont kick in until 2013. Oh........but they'll understand that loud and clear 6 months from now!!!

And beyond. Their whole plan was to use this bill as a "starter house", something that can be built upon later. But, they don't seem to realize that it won't be Socialist Democrats who will be doing the "building". :eusa_whistle:

They're willing to take their lumps this year, believing they'll recover by 2012. They won't. Barack Obama is no Bill Clinton.

Do you realize how stupid you people sound? Honestly, I'm embarrassed for you morons on the Left. We are not talking Profiles in Courage here.

The Democrats have told the House Democrats to pass the bill as is from the Senate and they can fix it later. The 41 Republicans in the Senate have told the House Democrats that that won't happen l the GOP will block any more changes to health care. The House Democrats will be stuck with the Senate version and they don't want that; especially the abortion language and the kickbacks for Nebraska, Louisiana, Florida and, let's not forget, the Unions.

They are facing the loss of their seats as it is; now it will be impossible for them to win re-election.

AvgGuy is talking his fantasies not reality. The reconciled bill should pass both chambers on Tuesday. The Dems have decided to use 50 plus one majority in the Senate, and the twelve conservative Dem holdouts in the House will not change the Dem majority.

We will have to campaign against the Dems and the health insurance bill this fall.

Hey Jake what are you doing with a picture of Ronald Reagan, trying to fool people again? You are no Ronald Reagan, more like Jimmy Carter.

Avg guy is not fantasizing, it's a fact, they will lose and lose badly the house and the senate lame ducking your guy for the rest of his term and it will be one term and out for Obama. It will be anyway, but you will guarantee that you won't see liberals leading in any role in the government for the next 30 years. That happened with Carter, and history has a way of repeating itself, unfolding right before your eyes.

Let the GOP run on repealing Healthcare

Apologies if someone posted this already. I did not understand reconciliation was going to work this way:

"In order for the bill to be 'fixed' in the way that most Democrats would like, the Senate’s legislation (without any changes or amendments) now must pass the House and be signed into law by the president. Then, that law can be changed through the Senate 'reconciliation' process."

Health end game hinges on House, Senate trust - Health care reform- msnbc.com

Seems very unlikely the House would agree to those terms.

Pal, that is going to be the qualifying question that any Republican Congressional hopeful will have to answer to make it past the primary season. "If you win, will you tirelessly work toward repealing ObamaCare - even if you have to shut down government to do so?"

Lets do it......PASS THE BILL and let the GOP repeal it

Instead of just attacking the existing bill let Republicans tell Americans they want to take back:

- mandatory insurance for prexisting conditions
- health insurance pools for the self employed
- coverage for peoples children
- increased competition
- the ability of insurance companies to drop you for being sick

Go on Republicans...

Once the bill is passed run on a platform of..

"I'm going to take away your healthcare"

The Senate's bill has to be passed by the House AS IS. No changes. Signed by the President and then the Senate may amend the law. Quite the leap of faith for a Representative facing election in November.

In my district, we won't let the reactionary loonies anywhere near the ad campaign.

saveliberty, no it doesn't. The house will make amendments, to which the Senate leadership has already agreed, and then the bill will be sent back to the Senate (it will use reconciliation) for passage, and then on to the President.

This bill is going to pass. This is as certain in retrospect as was Katrina breaching the levy walls. Run and stick your finger in the dyke; if you are well insulated, you may pop to the surface later.

Anyone who characterizes Carter in a simplistic manner - see above - has zero understanding of history and economics. Such posts reflect poorly on all Americans, those in other nations may think we're all partisan fools or ignorant asses.

No need, the wheels have fallen off this clusterfuck.... we'll just run pointing out how utterly fucking incompetent the Dems are. It will be an easy sell. We're 3/4 of the way there already!
