Dude is right on this one. We already had most of these guys on the radar before 9/11. It wasn't that our radar system wasn't good enough. Just that no one was paying attention to it at the right level. Hell, there are stacks and stacks of memos filed by "checkers" who had checked over these guys and reported them. We had reports to the White House that said "HEY!! SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT FLYING PLANES INTO TALL BUILDINGS".

We have plenty of checkers, checking on shit that needs to be checked. Now if you can concvince a politician to do a damn thing about it.

What we have/had Sweet Willy was "Failure to Communicate.

It was more of a failure to acknowledge. The documents and memos went to the highest levels and they were ignored. The threats were communicated, just that nothing was done about it. Half of these guys could have been picked up before 9/11 if someone would have just said "do it".

You are talking about building yet another useless government cluster fuck. Are you actually basing your argument on the premise that after all of the failures, all of the ignoring of these guys, that somehow, they couldn't have enrolled into flight school? Are you claiming that we didn't know these guys were in flght school? Because we did. Our checkers had already checked that. We already knew some had trained and we knew that some had tried to enroll. We all but followed them onto the planes that morning.

You're of the mind that anyone with a computer couldn't get a flight simulator game and learn enough to do what these guys did? And you're ready to have the US government put a mandate on the states to perform a task which they have concluded they can not reasonably do in order to accomplish exactly what? To keep drivers license from people? To make an ID some supposed infallable means of identification? Forgetting that forgers will master these new IDs in a matter of days? Forgetting that we can't even satisfy people that the President has a birth certificate but somehow we are going to confirm every person in the US?
