Ready for Boots on the Ground in Iraq?

Shut the fuck up....you didn't serve, asswipe.

I served through the Iraq War and recently retired, so I know what I am talking about regarding the military supported the mission in Iraq and won there but all gains were lost thanks to Obama and scum like you.

AQI left Iraq and reformed in Syria as ISIL and now they are back in Iraq as ISIS. Scum like you and Obama made it easier for them to come back by not supporting the mission in Iraq and pulling out the troops too soon.

Here's the wonderful thing.

You folks show little understanding of the Middle East and really? You do not give a fuck about the multiple religions/ethnicities/cultures in the region or the complexities of dealing with them. They have oil, we want it, we don't care how it's done. Might makes right, to the victor goes the spoils. And after centuries of that colonial attitude down there, it's exploding. Most notably the recent invasion of Iraq, which completely ignored all the geo-political realities. Like it or not? Iraq was a lynchpin in terms of providing stability. Most of the dictators in the region rule over a seething population of disparate peoples carved into countries by European colonialism. Keeping them together as countries involved the western notion of "nationalism". And "nationalists" need enemies. Big bad Iraq provided for that. The invasion however, sent millions of fleeing refugees into multiple nations. And many of these people reconnected in terms of religious and ethnic lines. And they began to see, very quickly, that their western supported dictators were illegitimate and no longer necessary because Iraq was gone, their lives had gone to shit and the literally had nothing to lose by rebelling against them.

That's what you folks created. This is what we were warning against.

And now it's here.

Bush's "wellspring" of democracy.

Like it?

"Let freedom reign" indeed.

Y'all weren't warning anything.

They didn't warn.
The military did. They are sick and tired of chicken hawks and their wars ala Nam and this.
Not a partisan thing.
Military warned and they told Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld

And the kicker is they ALSO advised Bush et al to NOT run off the Baath party and all their in place security and military which had given off.
WWII Patton and the military advised Truman to leave in place the Nazi Party officials- as they had to be in the party to be in government position and banned post war from being associated with anything nazi, party members, most all military, police and NO politicians, to run everything. Many in Truman's administration adamantly opposed that but Truman listened.
Bush refused to listen as the military advised the same damn thing and he and Bremer fucked everything up.

We invented an immediate 85,000 armed to the teeth insurgency as a result of that blunder in Iraq. Day after that was announced they killed 14 Americans with attacks on vehicles.

Oh My, the fuckups one makes when they support nation building.

I feel your pain, lied to and sacrificed so much.
You won every battle, kicked ass and we support you 100%.
Shame government lied to you and never listened to your superiors.
Thank you for your service. You are America's finest and we owe you.
Anyone you served with in north Georgia let me know and if they are looking for a job let me know and I will pass the word and network for them.

What did you win by the end of 2008? Al Qaeda leaving Iraq was not a win if they were not destroyed. And you need to remember that AQ was not in Iraq when the 2003 military invasion began.

We should be concerned about Iraq but not so much that we are once again trying to change hearts and minds by force. Nothing we can do to make the various factions not kill each other and live together in a country none of them want in it's present form. The west created iraq without regard for cultural boundaries and it is just not going to hold tegether no matter how many solders we feed to that retarded meat grinder.
They are coming for us. Are you surrendering here or win over there?

Don't let your fear cloud your judgement. We can do nothing to change the fact that a whole lot of people over there hate our guts, if they are coming, whoever "they" is, they are coming even if we give them some soldiers to kill over there. Fighting terrorists is like fighting the Hydra, for every one you kill two more pop up in their place.

By all means, we should invade Iraq again. The military-industrial complex has taught us that perpetual war is GOOD for us, and profitable, too!

We don't need to put boots on the ground, beyond what we already have there currently.

What we do need is a large bombing campaign waged in cooperation with the Kurds, possibly the Sunni's, and/or the Iraqi army.

With the limited bombing that we have done, ISIS has begun to convert from a standing army, back to a small unit force. The battle is half won.

Cool! They're back to jayvee status.......

Unless we go in there with dirty intentions like Los Pepes or Man on Fire, then I want no boots on the ground. If they do put boots there, then no rules of engagement, since indeed this band of miserable murdering sacks of unreal shit break every and any law of the Geneva convention.

Since that will never happen, and since our beloved media will harp on anything that the American soldiers do that is.....not on the up and up, there is no way we can win anything.

The pinch is coming for the dipstick Obama. Now that he is committed to bombing tumbleweeds and desert oasis, guess what? What, no empty pharmacies to send T-Hawks into? Its not working

NF regarding Gx001 9611012: How about a little follow up to the August 12, 2014 attempt to undermine the US military effort against Daesh, the IS terrorists. We see Geaux4it ridiculed the potential targets that could be found in Iraq and Syria. He cites tumbleweeds and desert oasis, empty pharmacies. We've had a couple months - what has been targeted besides just out right killing the worthless human waste when they attempt to move about in military vehicles.

By Sam Wilkin | Reuters, London Tuesday, 14 October 2014 - U.S.-led air strikes have significantly reduced Islamic State of Syria and Iraq’s ISIS) ability to produce, smuggle and refine oil, the International Energy Agency said in its monthly report on Tuesday, citing Western and Iraqi officials.
The coalition’s targeting of ISIS-held oil infrastructure has knocked crude production down to around 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) from a high of about 70,000 bpd achieved after the group expanded its territory over the summer, the report said.
The United States and its allies, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, began launching air strikes against ISIS in Iraq in August, and in Syria in September, including targeted strikes against oilfields and refineries controlled by the group.
In parallel, the governments of Turkey and Iraq’s Kurdistan Region have cracked down on ISIS’s smuggling of crude oil, which had brought in revenue estimated at $1 million to $3 million for the radical Sunni Islamist group.
The crackdown has cut smuggling to less than 10,000 bpd from a high of 30,000 bpd, unnamed officials said in the report.
As well as production capacity, ISIS captured up to 3 million barrels of crude oil stocks from storage facilities and pipelines during its rapid advance through Iraqi territory, the report said.
Air strikes have also destroyed dozens of small-scale or “teapot” refineries controlled by the group, which have sprung up in Syria since the beginning of the civil war in 2011.
ISIS needs access to gasoline and diesel to fuel its war effort, and knocking out the refineries will curtail its ability to use the tanks and other military vehicles which it has captured from Syrian and Iraqi forces.
The group has launched waves of attacks against Baiji, Iraq’s largest refinery, since June, but failed to capture it.
“With their oil assets diminished, the militants are determined to gain access to additional sources of fuel and revenue,” the IEA said. Last Update: Tuesday, 14 October 2014 KSA 13:49 - GMT 10:49

So who opposes reducing Daesh's oil revenues to commit terror from 70,000 bpd to 20,000 bpd?

And we are killing the IS animals at the Battle for Kobani by the multiple hundreds. They are getting pounded day after day. They keep sending in reinforcements and we keep slaughtering them. Kobani was predicted to fall weeks ago. Air strikes have kept the Kurd fighters from defeat and helped them turn the tide. The strategy of degrading and the airmen conducting the strikes are working and winning.
