Put 15 Million Back to Work by November 2012

The only answer to high unemployment is private sector jobs. A government job is paid for by taxes. If you use the funds you were using for wars it is still funded by taxes or more debt. Until you can withhold enough from an federal employees wages to pay their own wages and benefits it's a losing proposition for the American tax payer. You will never get the private sector jobs while you have an anti-business administration that buries business in regulations and unknown health care cost. Obama doesn't seem open to any pro-business ideas so I guess you can kiss private sector jobs good-by until he's gone. The last thing we need is a bigger government that everyone works for.

That is complete bullshit. As far as taxes go, the gov. worker is paying back part of the taxes, so we get his cheap labor to fix things. And whatever he does he is generating work & services & materials from the private sector that also pays taxes to cover the loss. So much for your private sucker jobs bullshit.

Government employees "generate services & materials from the private sector that also pay taxes"?

Are you retarded?

Holy cow,

You get to become a SLAVE for the STATE. And you get to work to pay YOUR OWN WAGES too.

Because they say, CAPATIALISM has outlived it's usefulness.

how bout that folks,

"Why not a WPA-II? We do have that civilian army of 15,000,000 unemployed, which could tackle the $2.2 trillion dollars of vital work needed by 2014 on our ramshackle infrastructure system...

"The latest report from the nation's premier engineering experts, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), estimated that such Congressional disinterest has caused damaging consequences so extensive that $2.2 trillion will be required by 2014 just to meet current demands.

"That estimate was prior to the June tornado that tore up an estimated $75 million worth of roads, bridges and public structures in Joplin, Missouri[9] and the rampaging Mississippi and Missouri rivers wracking up $4 billion to $9 billion in repair work.[10]

"Communities affected by Katrina and the BP oil catastrophes still await billions for infrastructure work - and this year's hurricane season has just started."

Think this might be a good time to hike taxes on rich individuals and corporations?

Thank you for completely ignoring my comment and simply posting more nonsense.

Someone care to point to the part of the Constitution that gives the Government the authority to force people to undertake a job?
Force?

"...New equipment and building supplies - including vehicle maintenance, gas and parts - would be largely furnished from DoD stockpiles in the US and foreign installations.

"Qualifications for Civilians: US citizenship and documented unemployment for 16 weeks prior to enrolling, with priority given to those unemployed more than two years prior to enrolling.

"Ages: 18-65, passage of physical, mental and education examinations and a felony-free record. No more than one member of a family could join at a time. Members must be willing to travel at WPA-II expense to any project assignment."

Please don't waste your time providing links to hackery. I don't read bullshit. I tend to think for myself.

Now, if you can quote me the relevant part of the Constitution that give our Government the authority to force Americans to undertake work, great. If not, you are dismissed as the fucking moron that I already know you are.

You want to live in a country where people are forced to do things against their free will, you are welcome to leave. Here, we live under the principles laid out in our founding documents.

I've had enough of people telling me that the concept of making one's own choices is 'outdated'. Making one's own choices and living with the consequences of one's actions is the American way.

Yes, because the last 780-some billion Obama spent to 'create jobs' worked out soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo well, right?

Yeah, fixed all the roads in my county that were neglected for years. Right.:clap2:

why were they neglected? We the People pay a high gasoline tax. that gasoline tax was supposed to be used to keep the high ways in repair. Now?? the question is what happened to that money.. and if you can't tell me what happened to that money then don't feel entitled to more of my money..

Government seems to be the one entity that undertakes a contract, renege on it and not get its ass sued. Better yet, they renege, blame someone else, and fucking morons vote for them to do it again.

This is why I do not vote Democrat. It is also why I do not vote Republican.

This thread is EXACTLY the type of thinking of the DEMOCRAT PARTY.

They want to make you SLAVES. Yet they call it. CARING FOR THE LITTLE GUY.

and you fools go right on out and VOTE FOR IT.

FDR tried this during the depression and golly gee, it didn't work.

History speaks volumes if people take the time to go back and look it up.

ALL paid for by taxing NON-FEDERAL employees. A government job is a drain on our economy. We need the FEWEST Federal jobs necessary to keep government functioning and NO more. We have far too many Federal Employees now and need to get rid of as many as possible and make government as small as possible.

That is complete bullshit. As far as taxes go, the gov. worker is paying back part of the taxes,

So over at AWE I invited you to try your idea out.

Give your nephew or niece a $1000 a week allowance - BUT charge them 5% in taxes.

Now you can quit your government job and retire - right? After all, they are paying taxes!

so we get his cheap labor to fix things.

Yep, a mere $100K a year for garbage collectors - it's the deal of the day!

Yer just as sharp as a marble.....

Wouldn't it just be easier to swing WW3 into wide open mode and reinstate the draft ?
Only if the richest 1% of humanity are the first fatalities.

But you leftists always want to kill off the Bourgeoisie - the middle 50% - not the top 1%. So when are you going to march Nancy Pelosi, George Soros, Steve Jobs, Algore and Michael Moore off to their deaths? They are all in the top 1% after all?

Expand it to the top 2% and you can add your beloved Messiah® - Barack Obama into the mix.

WPA-II that's how.

Split the entire work force into two divisions, deployed military and able-bodied civilians all overseen by Army Corps of Engineers or Navy Seabees.

"Projects: Roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, ports, waterways, water-sewage and drainage systems, levees, flood control, rail beds, rural electrification systems, fisheries, hospitals, schools, libraries, national/state/local parks and recreation systems, adult literacy programs etcetera.

"New projects would involve finishing repairs from Hurricane Katrina and the Gulf oil spill.

"Others systems would include light- and high-speed rail, solar/wind/water-based energy, erosion control, environmental protection, energy conservation, earthquake-proofing house foundations for the poor and disabled and dismantling/cleaning up decommissioned nuclear energy plants...

"Funding: With the winding down of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, a portion of Congressional appropriations to both the DoD and the State Department would be shifted to underwrite WPA-II expenses that previously were dedicated to foreign infrastructure and economic aid.

"This would include salaries of all DoD participants, including payroll for deployed military.

"The State Department would shift funds from most of its foreign-aid programs and much of the $3 billion presently earmarked for the Baghdad Embassy security forces.

"In addition, USAID would turn over its Congressional appropriations to the WPA-II and rely in future upon financial support from US businesses and industry and/or the US Chamber of Commerce to continue its global activities..."

You neo-socialist fools. Don't you understand that government jobs do not grow the economy? Government does not earn a dime. It confiscates money from the private sector. A massive tax hike to pay for "shovel ready jobs" that Obama snickered about does not generate wealth. One simple way to generate jobs and kick-start the economy is to open a small portion of ANWAR for oil drilling.

how bout that folks,
Why would you consider those working for WPA-II slaves?

Are US Border Patrol agents slaves?
How about the FBI?
ATF?
Navy SEALS (alright, I'll give you that one)

These are volunteer positions in exactly the same way the first Works Progress Administration was.

Capitalism would just as soon use robots to supply ALL its need for labor.
The machine has replaced too many manufacturing jobs for capitalists to provide jobs to every American who needs one.
Time to move on.

I blame the Republicans and the Blue Dogs.

"Originally, Obama assured the public that the $787 billion stimulus package (aka--The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) would create 3.5 million new jobs. But--even by the administration's own calculations--less than 1 million jobs have been created so far(2009).

"Too much of the ARRA money was devoted to tax cuts (to appease Republicans and Bluedogs) which diminished its overall effectiveness. Here's an excerpt from an article by Alec MacGillis in the Washington Post which gives a breakdown of the costs:

"Two-thirds of the stimulus went toward tax cuts, fiscal aid to states, and expanded unemployment benefits and food stamps. These efforts helped cushion the recession’s blow, saved public jobs and, by injecting demand into the economy, bolstered employment indirectly..."

Mike Whitney: Let's Get Fiscal

I also blame fat cat capitalists who are deathly afraid of real competition.

How many of America's 14 million unemployed made a choice to become jobless?
Why would any of them have to be forced to accept a job?
Have you uncovered a principle in our founding documents that prohibits citizens from working for their government?

Have you noticed Capitalism is dead?

The big question........is it Shovel ready!!!
That is the big question.

I haven't been able to find out how many projects the original WPA actually began working on in its first year of existence.

WPA-II would be administered in the same way as the original:

"Administration: As with the first WPA, the administrator would be an experienced Department of Defense engineer. Supervisors, also experienced military engineers, would be responsible for projects in five regions: Northeast, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, Southeast.

"Department of Defense (DoD) inspectors-general would conduct monthly monitoring of all projects to ensure quality and timely performances - to be followed by quarterly reports on findings...

"Project Design/Implementation: Total responsibility would fall to the Army Corps of Engineers (as with the original WPA) and the US Navy's Construction Battalions (also known as the 'Seabees').

"The Seabees have a long history of producing WPA-like projects rapidly and reliably, from World War II and Korea to Vietnam, the Gulf, Bosnia and Iraq.

"In Afghanistan, they have completed 625 public works assignments: roads, bridges, causeways, schools, hospitals, orphanages, utility systems, community centers, upgrading airfields and ports, digging wells and sewers.[15]

"Specialists in base construction - including camps for 42,000 troops and galleys feeding 75,000 - they would also supervise construction of workers' housing and galleys."

Had a Socialist moved into the White House in 2009, millions of Americans who don't have jobs today would be gainfully employed and consuming.
