Progressives rotate 180°on their views over night

For the past 10 years or so we had to hear from progressives how businesses were not private. How they belonged to the government and/or the public. How serving the public meant they had no right to refuse service.

Yet the past few days, progressives had drowned social media celebrating stories of businesses who "serve the public" denying Nazi and/or white supremacist groups service. One was a restaurant. The big news today was ISP and cloud services denying their services to a website called "Daily Stormer" (apparently some white supremacist site).

So what happened? When a business owner wanted to refuse service to homosexuals based on their religious beliefs (fully protected by the U.S. Constitution), the left completely lost their shit. They insisted that it was "discrimination" and demanded that either the business be forced - at the barrel of a gun - to provide their products or services, or be run out of business.

And yet, when a business does the exact same thing to another group (for reasons not protected by the U.S. Constitution), all we hear from the fascists is "they have the right to refuse service".

This is what happens when views/ideologies are built from irrational emotion instead of logic and reason. There is an absurd contradiction and lack of consistency - which completely obliterates all credibility (hence the reason nobody takes the left seriously on anything).
People are standing up to groups and individuals that spread hate speech and who are widely condemned by every leader in our country including Trump. How can you compare that to an oppressed minority group like homosexuals?
1) They're both human.
2) They're both Americans.
3) They're both granted rights by the Constitution.
4) They're both protected by the same laws.

That's how you compare them.

Dear Slade3200 Christians have also been persecuted historically. And now instead of just Christians rejecting gay politics, the LGBT as a collective movement have been harassing and calling for punishment of Christians for their beliefs.

The shoe is on the other foot.

This whole process is an exercise in the LGBT being put in the opposite position as before. When it's their turn to call for condemnation and ostracizing people who disagree with their beliefs, are they any more "inclusive" ? or just as fearful, angry and discriminatory?

A lesson in learning what it means for people to be equal. The same mistakes and damage the Christians are blamed for, now it's the Left's turn to act that way "out of good intentions" before they realize how and why this bullying happens they oppose so much when it happens to them!
Let me see if I'm understanding your point correctly. You think the LGBT community should accept white supremacy and Nazis under the same premise that they expect to be accepted into society by Christians?
Is that right?
Yes and no. Yes they should allow equal expression of beliefs as they want for their own beliefs. No, neither should get abusive about it.

The difference between race and orientation is race is genetically determined but orientation is faith based like someones religious affiliation. So these beliefs ppl have can't be regulated by govt. Nor can they be established or prohibited. If there is a conflict between ppl of different beliefs, the fair thing to do is either resolve it mutually or agree to separate. Govt should never be abused to establish or prohibit a faith based belief. Ppl need to work those out for themselves, not impose on or abuse each other so badly they end up whining to govt to break up a fist fight. Grow up and quit incitng fights to begin with. Then govt doesn't have to step in to a fight between kids that escalates until someone gets hurt. It's called growing up, and I'm surprised more ppl haven't figured it out yet. Gee whiz.

Again with the false premise thread .

But I'll answer . We have specific laws that say a business can't discriminate based on XYZ. For example , handicapped people .

No law says they can't discriminate based on political standing.

Someone can deny to serve a black person wearing an Obama tshirt wih full legal protection?
No, but you can protect your right not to be forced to print or sell such shirts that represents beliefs which violate your own. Businesses should provide a mediation and arbitration clause in their customer contracts. Where if a dispute arises concerning the content , design, expression, or image decisions that will reflect on the company, both parties agree either to resolve the conflict by consensus, using mediation chosen by the customer or arbitration chosen by the company, or to cancel the contract and refrain from doing business together. That would protect the beliefs of both parties in cases of conflict without blaming or punishing either for their beliefs.

Business A: I want to refuse business to people I don't like

Progressives: how horrible outrageous we'll sue!

Business B: I want to refuse business to people I dont like

Progressives: yeah! You rock. That will teach those haters.

Nope. Nothing is the same here.

The thing is Emily, we are not comparing to groups with a simple difference of opinion. We are talking about polar opposite situations. Gay rights is fighting for the right to LOVE who they want and live like a free citizen in their country. Nazis and WS's spread HATE SPEECH.

Regulation of speech is not new. I can't post a billboard of an old naked guy next to an elementary school. I can't walk into a business and threaten/intimidate employees or other customers. In some places I can't sign at the top of my lungs after midnight and wake up all the neighbors.

Actually, that's not true.

They have every right to "spread their hate in my country". Check out the First Amendment and all subsequent court rulings.

There is little to no difference between the hate spread by these racists (KKK, etc.) and the hate spread by those racists (Antifa, BLM, etc.).

Why would one group be allowed to spread their hatred while another wouldn't?

The absurdity of your "example" really doesn't do your argument much good - and, in fact, greatly demeans your position. Surely, you can do better than that.

You would propose to shut down a whole segment of society (small though it may be), and call that equal to your singing in the alley?

Remember how inappropriate it was when BLM chanted for cops to fry like bacon. Same thing, but that was a fringe of BLM. That kind of talk is at the core of these other groups.

What you call "hate speech": is a political agenda that you happen to disagree with. (By the way, so do I). However, I find the Antifa mantra to be just as repugnant, but you don't. You want to ban the one you detest, and keep the one you like. I want to keep them both.

You claim that the BLM demonstration was a "fringe" - the same applies to the groups in Charlottesville. Clearly, they don't represent mainstream conservatism any more than BLM represents mainstream liberalism.

But, the point is much simpler than that - you don't get to decide who speaks in the public forum and who doesn't. We don't have to like what they say - hell, we can be grossly offended by what they say - but we MUST defend their right to say it. If we don't, we might not be able to say what we want when it comes our turn.

Sorry. You got it wrong again.

You do NOT have the right to "shut that shit down". I challenge you to show me a SINGLE example in US hsitory in which a person was LEGALLY prevented from speaking because of the content of his message. Just one -- that's all -- just one.

Your "singing in the alley" example is off track. If you were shut down because your neighbor didn't like the songs you were singing, then you have a legitimate comparison. Shutting you down because you sing at 3 in the morning and interrupt his freedom to sleep is a whole different example.

If we don't, we might not be able to say what we want when it comes our turn.
Oh i'm not a fan of ANTIFA at all. I think they have a respectable purpose with their anti-racists mission but they execute poorly and cloud the rest of their agenda with other "anti's" that are too extreme for my taste. Most of all I don't like the violence and shut down of speech that they have participated in on college campuses. I was fine with a shut down of a Nazi rally This is a different discussion though and I'm happy to have it.

Per you "hate speech" comment... That is not just a label I put on a political agenda I disagree with. Hate speech and the actions they are calling for are specifically against the law. We fought a civil war on those issues, we had a civil rights revolution. To me, treating everybody in this country with equality and respect is a characteristic of what America is and I stand up for that.

Gee whiz.

The absurdity of your "example" really doesn't do your argument much good - and, in fact, greatly demeans your position. Surely, you can do better than that.

You would propose to shut down a whole segment of society (small though it may be), and call that equal to your singing in the alley?
My examples simply show that speech is regulated in this country. When it is inappropriate then we say NO by law. Those assholes can say whatever they want in private but when they bring their hate talk out to the public square we have ever right to shut that shit down just like my neighbor can have the police shut me up when i'm singing in the ally

Ok, you want an example involving content? How about if I walked around the mall and told every little kid that I saw about the hooker that I fucked in the ass the night before, in gruesome detail. Maybe I get all my friends and hookers together to march around the school describing the lewd acts that we do to each other in protest of the fact that the school does not teach the 3rd graders about sexual education. While we are at it we can let any kids that are not white know that we will be kicking them and their families out of our country because they are trespassing... Are we free to do that?

As usual with the double standards justification

Discrimination is discrimination

Hate is hate

You can't silence or forbid one type of hatred,
and force through legalization, the tolerance of another!

Homosexuals hate being held to moral standards of decency
Homosexuality is not normal and no one or no law
will force me, nor convince me otherwise

I am so ecstatic the signs are all around us,
I am soooo ready!

By saying homosexuality isn't normal is not keeping it real. Who made you the arbiter of what is normal.
Jeezzzz
