While watching the news conference this evening, I've noticed Obama making the comment, "I'm not the only one," then listing other individuals who share his view. What's with this? I've also noticed, several times, that Obama has blamed the Bush administration for his inheritence of a deficit, while ignoring the questions about his new spending bill that would double the deficit. Obama has also shown his true colors ,IMO, of partisanship. He referred to both parties as "us" and "them." Then he blamed any criticism on Republican Critics.

It going to show that Obama is no different than any other politician. So much for "hope" we can believe in.

Well that's the nature of lying Marxist Muslims whose goal is to destroy the US Economy.

So telling the truth about the mess he inherited bothers those on the right?

That's not passing the buck, it's called the truth.

He was given a bag of shit by Bush and now he has to clean it up. It doesn't mean he can't remind those on the right with a short memory span, that their man created it.

He established that from the very beginning. Say one thing to get elected, then do just the opposite.

No lobbyists in the White House, accepting public financing during the campaign (then not), the whole transparency thing.

Not a surprise. Just another typical politician.

One more thing Pogo. If anyone has tried to destroy our ecomony it is the right. they have pushed US to this point so we can't afford any social programs. They would rather see our economy in ruins than see social security, medicare, medicaid or universal health care. It wasn't socialism or marxism, it was the neo conservatives who gave US this mess. Your boys, Pogo.

Your marxist shit is beginning to sound like a whiney little baby who has no real argument.

Yeah... Middle East Peace will take a LONG TIME... particularly given that President Hussein just funded international terrorism with a donation of 1 BILLION DOLLARS!

Funny, i didn't hear Bush complain about Clinton not taking out Bin Laden when he had the chance. Personally, I inherited a mess from the previous manager at my job. Never said a damn word about it, just went about my business. If only the guy in the highest office this country has to offer had the same standards for himself as an operations manager of a small-mid size company.....

ROFLMNAO... SWEET MOTHER!

Now that is just embarassing to read.

now friends, the Pogue here is an imbecile to be sure... and yeah, it's temtping to believe that she's a farce; a plant TRYING to give the impression that the ideological left is comprised of the lowest common intellectual denominator...

But in truth, she's no less intelligent than President Hussein, or Speaker Pelosi or the leading Congressional Fudge-packer, Rep Bawney Fwank...

The idiocy above is just what ya get from idiots... nothing new, unusual or otherwise unique in any of it.

they have pushed US to this point so we can't afford any social programs.

We can't afford them? Yet we're spending TRILLIONS of dollars on them.

And, personally, I would rather see that money saved and put towards more prudent projects. Instead of giving the deadbeats more food stamps, how about we create programs that force these people to get jobs? Notice I said force, not offer. I believe ANYONE who wants handouts should be forced to do SOMETHING constructive to earn it. I don't care if they have to pick up the road kill on the local highway, at least they aren't sitting in their trailers watching their big screens and eating name brand foods that the American taxpayers paid for.

You're failing to see the point. (big suprise). I've never said that Obama didn't inherit a deficit. What I AM saying, is that every time Obama was questioned about HIS spending plan and HIS doubling of the deficit, he brought up his "inheritence" of a deficit and dodged the question. He said it numerous times throughout the speech. Anytime he was question about his policies in a negative way, he would dodge the question and blame the current problems on the past administration. Tjat is called "passing the buck." Be a man, inherit the problem and deal with it. Don't deal with the problem by bitching and moaning about the past administration... Does it really do any good???

This is not partison opinion; it's direct observation of the speech and factual information. If you want to spin this thread into a left vs. right argument, then go ahead, but I must say that it's no big suprise from you.

FACT CHECK: Obama having it both ways on economy?

FACT CHECK: Obama having it both ways on economy?

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama's plea for patience in the economic turmoil Tuesday fits with the view of most economists that a turnaround will take some time. It doesn't fit quite so neatly with his bullish budget.
The president's spending plans and deficit projections rest on the assumption that the economy will post solid growth next year after a mild, further decline this year. Many economists think that's too rosy.

Obama was more cautious than that in his prime-time news conference—possibly to the point of having it both ways.

A look at some of his statements and how they square with the facts:

THE CLAIM: "We will recover from this recession. But it will take time, it will take patience, and it will take an understanding that when we all work together, when each of us looks beyond our own short-term interests to the wider set of obligations we have to each other, that's when we succeed."

THE FACTS: No one really knows when the recession will end. But Obama's own budget forecasts the recession will continue through this year but with a relatively shallow 1.2 percent decline in the gross domestic product....

No one's bringing up Bush or his rhetoric. You and Ray act like a couple of teen-aged girls whose boyfriends cheated on you with republicans. It's ridiculus. First, I've never stated what political party I identify with (neither), but you assume that because I'm criticizing Obama, I must be a "neo-con." What a couple of ignorant asses.

I've simply stated an observation; NOT COMPARED HIM TO PAST PRESIDENTS. Learn to read.

And is it any excuse to triple the deficit again--into what his OWN CBO is stating that is unsustainable. I think NOT. By year 2019 we will be paying 1 BILLION dollars just in interest.

The point is--there are free market solutions to all of this--without burdening future generations of this country with this enormous debt--that "even Obama" stated that he was NOT 100% certain it would work.

they had a big screen at the back of the room with text on it

Fox News showed it after

That appeared to be the case; you could tell that his eyes were focused into the distance and were unwavering. It might have also been a little hard to read; I notice him skip words a couple of times.

YEAH right--& we see how well our government has run Social security. The biggest "FARCE" of all. This will be the next economic calaminty. After witnessing how they managed Fannie/Freddie the GROUND ZERO of this economic crisis--now you want to hand over another enormous industry to them? HEALTH CARE!!!!

There are always free market solutions for everything--that does not require the risk of bankrupting this country. The problem: Our enept government just does not want to make hard decisions to let it happen. IE: Meaning everyone in this country has to acquire their own medical insurance, just like we have to with automobile liability insurance. Just that in itself would cause medical insurance rates to plummett. It worked in Mass--why not the rest of the country?
Our government won't do it--because they're scared to death they would lose a voting block.

Time to get head--un-stuck from that sand pile it's in.

GOVERNMENT IS NOT THE SOLUTION--IT'S THE PROBLEM! "Ronald Reagan"

uh, his head isn't in a sand pile

his head is firmly ensconced up Obama's ass

Average at best...at times rambling. Opening statement fell flat.

No way his budget is passed as proposed.

Democrats jumping ship.

Still maintaining public popularity - but not necessarily public support of policies.

Things getting a bit worrisome in Obama land...
