President Trump Vetos Congress' Rebuke of Border Order

What say you?

  • His Border Emergency Order Should Stand. Most Americans don't like problems the open border caused.

  • His Border Emergency Order Should Not Stand.

  • Neither one. Explained Below

  • No opinion.

Results are only viewable after voting.
Flanked by law enforcement officials as well as the parents of children killed by people in the country illegally, Trump maintained that he is not through fighting for his signature campaign promise, which stands largely unfulfilled 18 months before voters decide whether to grant him another term. Trump said: "It is a tremendous national emergency," adding, "our immigration system is stretched beyond the breaking point."

How many of those overrode the will of Congress?
A veto is always an override to the will of Congress, sir.

Assuming the Senate does not act to protect congressional power from an executive power grab what will Trump try to do next with his brand-new imperial power? There will be a next you can bet your ass.

That's what the courts are for, to be sure that no one oversteps their authority. Trump is well in his lane according to AG Barr. If the next dem president goes too far, I'm sure the USSC will get him back in his lane.
All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. There will be a reckoning for all this blind following.

..and the USSC as a referee is what? Stop with the "reckoning" crap, Trump is in his lane and the USSC will ensure that all presidents stay in their lane, like they smacked down BO for some of his Exec Orders.

Obie's DACA EO still stands.
SCOTUS is supposed to rule on it this summer.
We'll see....

Trump issues first veto after rebuke of border order

Trump now becomes the first POTUS to use the power of the national emergency to override the will of Congress. The door this opens up will never be closed again if this stands. IF something that has been going on for more than 30 years constitutes an emergency, then there is nothing that does not.

More contracts for continuing border wall/barrier building go out in the next few days.
Seems to me it is standing.

It will still end up at SCOTUS.

And with Roberts it's completely up in the air
It doesn't have to be. The SCOTUS members may refrain from involvement in this business of invoking hardships on 4 border states, especially the counties that line that border who have to bail out orphans until they are reunited with their parents who sent them with at-risk "friends" who quickly abandon the children after crossing who suddenly realize it's every man for himself to escape the Border Patrols on duty. Effectively closing the border which recorded the largest number of illegal crossings last month. I am grateful that President Trump put himself on the line so border states will no longer have their feet held to the fire by the other 46 states for the tab they have had to pay for these long decades of nation invasion.

Scotus may take the side of both the abandoned children and the border states when all the facts of this case are reviewed, which will take years if not decades. If they do take these matters under consideration, there's only one right thing to do: make sure no other children are forced over here by irresponsible parents who think only of self before child.
I have confidence that America will step up to the plate, pitch in, and get these last hundred thousand Mexicans taken care of. Any more will have to face an increased presence of Border patrollers out there where the rubber hits the road. And hopefully, none of them will die protecting the border of the United States of America.

Y'all have a blessed weekend. The people who were lost in the Mosques in New Zealand and all churches that have seen terror on their grounds are on my prayer list tonight. Some people have no respect for the borders of a house of prayer and worship and others, no respect for our national borders. These next few months are likely to be hard on our border agents and patrol to deal with the drug lord terrorism there.

Oooo.....that hurt.

But, true.

May I insert here, there is absolutely no constitutional requirement for a President to follow a Supreme Court decision.

Congress can still override the veto if they have the will.

They also need to concurrently fix the law so the next president will not be tempted.
Congress won’t, of course – too many cowardly Republicans.
You are mistaken. Our party is flexible enough to accommodate people's opinion differences. What keeps Republicans in line is the economy that depends upon us to keep the market invested. ;)

Well, I can appreciate your myopia, but if you put on some binoculars, you will see a Mexican government that will take better care of those they consider as pisanos, who were upgraded last night to the rank of equal citizens of Mexico. You have not furnished a law to this board that President Trump broke. Number of law and date of passage, PLZ.Thx.

Trump is a realist. He's able to comprehend problems, he's a doer, and he has the desire to keep his promises. What more can you ask for in a POTUS?

He's on the side of common sense, country and those who experience the real issues daily. As for the rest, they're MFing politicians and do shit for appearances. Worse are Democrats and the progressive elite. They'll sell their souls for power, makes perfect sense they'd sell the country as well. All else is bullshit.

Huh.

"Emergency presidential powers are dramatic, and range from suspending all laws regulating chemical and biological weapons, including the ban on human testing (50 U.S.C. § 1515, passed 1969); to suspending any Clean Air Act implementation plan or excess emissions penalty upon petition of a state governor (42 U.S.C. (f) § 7410 (f), passed 1977); to authorizing and constructing military construction projects (10 U.S.C. It is this old thing that folks like you use to wipe your ass with, the Constitution.

The Constitution gave spending power to Congress, not to the President.

But, know how much your ilk hate that old thing, I know you do not care about such things.

This Congress has been reduced to monkeys that only throw shit! (And, as usual, attempt to enrich their individual selves, in the process).
A great gig, if you can get it.
