Flanked by law enforcement officials as well as the parents of children killed by people in the country illegally, Trump maintained that he is not through fighting for his signature campaign promise, which stands largely unfulfilled 18 months before voters decide whether to grant him another term. Trump said: "It is a tremendous national emergency," adding, "our immigration system is stretched beyond the breaking point."

Trump issues first veto after rebuke of border order

Assuming the Senate does not act to protect congressional power from an executive power grab what will Trump try to do next with his brand-new imperial power? There will be a next you can bet your ass.

That's what the courts are for, to be sure that no one oversteps their authority. Trump is well in his lane according to AG Barr. If the next dem president goes too far, I'm sure the USSC will get him back in his lane.

All it takes for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. There will be a reckoning for all this blind following.

Your godfather, Franklin Roosevelt, used the veto power 635 times, and he openly hated the Constitution.

In July 5, 1935, in a letter to Representative Samuel B. Hill of Washington, the President manifested his contempt for the Constitution. Hill was chairman of the subcommittee studying the Guffey-Vinson bill to regulate the coal industry: the purpose of the legislation was to re-establish, for the coal industry, the NRA code system which the Supreme Court had unanimously declared unconstitutional. Roosevelt wrote: "I hope your committee will not permit doubts as to constitutionality, however reasonable, to block the legislation.

This was the same Roosevelt who had sworn an oath on his 300 year old family Bible, to "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Manly, "The Twenty Year Revolution," p. 65

Leftists seem to yearn for an imperial presidency....when the President is a Democrat.

Trump issues first veto after rebuke of border order

Trump now becomes the first POTUS to use the power of the national emergency to override the will of Congress. The door this opens up will never be closed again if this stands. IF something that has been going on for more than 30 years constitutes an emergency, then there is nothing that does not.

Magical thinking, on your part.

And you said?

nobody is complaining about him using the veto power.

Speaking of evil....

1. Obama told illegal aliens to go and vote, saying "When you vote, you're a citizen yourself."

2. After promising that Iran would never get nuclear weapons, Obama guaranteed them nukes.

October 7 2008, in the second presidential debate: "We cannot allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon. It would be a game-changer in the region. Not only would it threaten Israel, our strongest ally in the region and one of our strongest allies in the world, but it would also create a possibility of nuclear weapons falling into the hands of terrorists. And so it's unacceptable. And I will do everything that's required to prevent it. And we will never take military options off the table"

The first is an attack on America, the second, on all of Western Civilization.

What was your response to that, actual evil?

Even more importantly is what will the next POTUS grab with this new power to override and ignore congress? This is a dangerous door to open for anyone that thinks all 3 branches of government are supposed to be equal in power.

More contracts for continuing border wall/barrier building go out in the next few days.
Seems to me it is standing.

Really?

What did you imagine (I almost said 'think') the vote in Congress was aimed at accomplishing?

It will still end up at SCOTUS.

Even more importantly is what will the next POTUS grab with this new power to override and ignore congress? This is a dangerous door to open for anyone that thinks all 3 branches of government are supposed to be equal in power.

"Even more importantly is what will the next POTUS grab with this new power to override and ignore congress? "

So it is your deeply considered opinion that Democrats would never break the law, or precedent, or protocol, without being shown how to do it?

No, it is my deeply considered opinion that once a door is open it is never closed again and things just get worse the next time.

you partisan morons are always happy as fuck when you party does it first, then you will be whining like the 12 year old you are when the other party does it even bigger.

I don't think he's after imperial power. I think he's trying to prevent imperial power in the Congress claiming she's the person who has more power than anybody else. The problem I have with that is we should be realizing that there are 3 branches of government, each having power over differing things--(1) legislation (2) administration and (3) judicial power. The three should help each other provide for the common defense of the American people. Having an open border has proved itself more than chaotic and pulls the plug on safety for everyone. And it is an emergency with bad designer drugs that produced thousands of deaths in less than 5 years because such an infinitesimal amount can cause a quick death to whoever gets more than a slight amount in one dose. The school system is hurting with teachers scurring to deliver the same equal rights to border crossers as to children of taxpayers footing the bill. The cost of incarcerating crossing criminals is through the roof and increases costs passed onto taxpayers. Many people have been killed at the hands of illegal crossers, some of whom returned after being sent back to states south of the US border. There is absolutely nothing good about this particular open border, and it has not created brotherly love, either.
