Whether you are a dish washer or a president, you should speak out for what you belief is right regardless of criticism. I'm quite sure the president was well aware that speaking in support of freedom of religion in the mosque issue was going to cost him votes, but it was the right thing to do.

Which would be fine EXCEPT.... no one is arguing that the Muslims dont have the RIGHT to build the Mosque. We're arguing the ethics of building it THERE. No one want to stop it being built - just not THERE. Why is that beyond your comprehension? Are you actually mentally challenged or do you just blindly regurgitate the crap your handed by your Messiah's boys?

The location is not at ground zero. The mosque location is 2 blocks as the crow flies from ground zero, longer if you walk. You can't even see ground zero from the site. So the proximity to ground zero is not a good argument as why it should not be located there.

If a synagogue or a Catholic church was being build there, would there be an objection? Of course not. It's the fact that the building is a symbol of Islam. Those that would build the mosque did not attack us. The only thing the terrorist have in common with those that would build the mosque is they both share the same religion. We are at war with the terrorist, not 1.5 billion Muslims.

I think this entire discussion really highlights our intolerance. Consider that recently the Maghen Abraham Synagogue was rebuilt in downtown Beirut just 4 years after Israel attached Lebanon. The Lebanese could have said locate your synagogue some place else. It disrespects the victims of the attack and will be a monument to the attachers. But they didn't. The project received the green light after political officials and community leaders became convinced it could show that Lebanon is an open country, tolerant of many faiths including Judaism. This is the type of tolerance I would expect in the US.

Wrong. The building the mosque is at was hit by debris from the towers and jetliner.
This caused the real estate value to plummet. So not only is it on the very grounds that got attacked, the Islamists are getting it at a discount price thanks to the attacks itself.

All property is subject to local zoning laws. Do you have the right to turn your house into a McDonald's or a church? Probably not due to zoning regulations by your city/county ect. Why is this one place somehow exempt?
