Preschooler’s Homemade Lunch Replaced with Cafeteria “Nuggets”

What trip me out the most is that you guys think that there was a "Food Inspector"

Think about it again--from a parents point of view. A parent with a picky-eater for a kid!

Either someone stole the girls lunch or she traded/sold it away. The story reeks with fiction that excites a right-wingers fascination with socialism.

So three chicken nuggets are more nutritious than apple juice, a banana and a turkey and cheese sandwich? In what universe?

I'm sure they gave her more than that. That's just all she ate of it, because she was no doubt very upset about the whole incident.

If I were her mother, I'd bill the school for the contents of the lunch they confiscated, AND chew their asses for traumatizing my kid.

I don't care if the country, state, county, or locality is run by whatever party.... Some government school official tries this shit with my kids and they will find themselves in court faster than shit and they will find my packed lunch in my child's possession for lunch each and every day... and I will arrive at the school to ensure they are allowed to eat it

Fucking nanny state motherfuckers

My sentiments exactly.

Hell I'd take that turkey/Cheese, apple juice and a bananna over 3 chicken nuggets any day.

Jeeze. The world is full of fucking idiots.

I'm having trouble understanding how her lunch wasn't nutritious. You have the serving of meat (turkey), the serving of dairy (cheese), serving of grains (bread), TWO servings of fruits (banana and apple juice). And it was all a hell of a lot fresher than anything the school was offering, I can promise you. And how the hell much food do they expect a kindergartner to eat, anyway? What else did they want?

Translation: "I don't like the story's implications, so it must not be true."

It wasn't nutritious because the state didn't provide it to her.

They know how to raise your kids better than you do, you know. How else are they going to grow up to be compliant shitheads without the state's guidance?

Find this "Food Inspector" and arrest him/her for theft, IF YOU CAN!

Prove it.

I think the school is misinterpreting the policy quoted in paragraph 3 of OP article:

...The Division of Child Development and Early Education at the Department of Health and Human Services requires all lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs - including in-home day care centers - to meet USDA guidelines. That means lunches must consist of one serving of meat, one serving of milk, one serving of grain, and two servings of fruit or vegetables, even if the lunches are brought from home. ...

It states nothing about home provided lunches. They went too far. If the cafeteria or a daycare provider, (in-home or not), serves the lunch, it must meet those guidelines according to NC.

Find the Food Inspector! What department check school lunches at a school.

Think about it--Choosing chicken nuggets over soup and sandwich is something a child would do. Not an Adult.

Nanny state at its finest

Preschooler’s Homemade Lunch Replaced with Cafeteria “Nuggets”

A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because a state employee told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.

The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the agent who was inspecting all lunch boxes in her More at Four classroom that day.

....

And they sent the kid home with a bill for the nuggets.

Wrong. Some bureacrat arrive at the school lunch room specifically to inspect lunches and told her the one she had was not acceptable, and they forced her to take a school lunch. The parents are also forced to pay for it.

MMMMMMM nugget stuff

Check the facts before you embarrass yourself further.

Sent her home with the bill for the milk they've been providing too. Apple juice bad. Milk good!
Wasn't it the gov. that told us not long ago that milk was bad for your health? The same ones that just turned pizza into a food group? ;)
They don't want our kids healthy. They want our kids.

They can't pack as many hormones in apple juice as they can in milk, I'm guessing.

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm not thrilled about the prospect of my daughter reaching sexual maturity in second grade.
