Like everything in America this has become a moronic political football being kicked around by posing politicians on both sides of the isle.

It was ordered by duty officer of the Capitol Police, not a political decision at all and was immediately protested by every Democrat who found out about it. The Republicans of course are salivating all over it, the governor of Florida demanding his guard return home.

This is an indication of the hysteria infecting not only America politics but American character.
It is a break area, heated with rest rooms. It is not where they sleep. "During their guard duty shifts, members are cycled into the garage to warm up and take a break. They have hotel rooms to sleep in when their shifts are over."

When I was in a US military I once had to sleep in an underground storage area waiting to perform hurricane relief. In the First Gulf War for a considerable time we sleep out in the open in sleeping bags. In Bosnia I often had to sleep in the cab of our truck.

Having to take a break in a climate controlled parking area with rest room facilities before you retire for the night to a hotel is hardly doing it rough for a solider.

That so many Americans think so is probably one reason American cannot win wars anymore.
