Off course they say they're against a tax increase. They're Republicans.

All I can say about the debate is thank god for Gingrich and Paul in the debate otherwise I would have gone to sleep. It's fun to watch people like this who know they don't have chance of being nominated. They use the debate as platform for saying what they think needs to be said. The rest of them just find other ways to carry the party line and condemn Obama. Maybe it's just me, but I think Romney had about as much pizazz as a sponge. Obama would kill him in a debate.

Romney impressed me but that could be because I have been underrating him. If Pawlenty doesn't drop out after this I'll be convinced he's on the Obama reelection campaign's payroll.

I should have made it public sorry, I don't post many threads.

Holy cow--can you say we have got a diverse crowd here tonight--

I am a fiscal conservative and cannot vote for anyone who believes that they can legislate personal behavior from Washington D.C.

Therefore Rick Santorim is OUT He does not believe in the 10th amendment of the US constitution as far as states rights toward sovernity. He doesn't believe in STATES RIGHTS--regarding gays or anything else. Palenty--once voting for Cap n Tax and his attacks on Bachmann--thereby violating Reagan's 11 commandment==(never attack one of your own_ is OUT.)

Huntsman is just another Barack Obama--someone who doesn't lead--and or needs an appointed commission to do it for him.

The above people are my OUTS.

Who Stays In:

The SURPRISE of the night to me--was Newt Gingrich--literally taking on Criss Wallace of Fox News on one of those Gotcha Questions--and Newt called him out on it on National T.V. Newt is the most informed of all the candidates.

Mitt Romney--can hold his own anywhere--and did good tonight.

Michelle Bachmann--still not impressive enough--for me to trust with the management of this country.

Ron Paul--no doubt he says it like it is--which I agree with--just not enough "hump" to actually win. I expect his son Rand Paul will someday be POTUS.

Herman Cain--great business experience--but lacking in government experience--which may turn out to be a positive for him.

Anyone of them would be better than what we've got right now.

But what do I know--I am just one of those tea party members of this country that respect states rights-and the 10th amendment of the US constitution and not the personal opinion of politicians.

If you right-wingers continue to try and shove YOUR social values down the throats of the AMERICAN PUBLIC--you will continue to LOSE ELECTIONS.

I never understood why people make them public.

Yeah, I think less people participate because we are raised in a culture that respects the private vote....although I always like checking when it is public just to be nosey.:D

BTW, am I the only one who keeps thinking that your monkey is jerking off??

It is a good pic of "The Chimp" blaming liberals though.

Fuck me I meant to hit Newt and Hit Pewlenty LOL

sorry lol

I think Newt by far displayed best exactly what is needed to Defeat Obama. To bad he has all the baggage.

I'm really surprised at my choice for the most experienced candidate with knowledge and leadership qualities. Newt could wipe the floor with any of them, in my opinion. I really thought I would have been more impressed with one of the others, before Newt. I am looking at the long haul. Of all the candidates tonight, I would like to see Newt with Bachmann as VP, if she would accept.

And I was hoping to find a poll when I logged on and so I "thank you" Avorysuds. Great job. :) I also like Marco Rubio for VP.

I'll be the chimp, just don't call me a liberal lol

Romney spewed nothing more than superficial talking points the whole time. He is a talking head just like Obama. His words lack any substance.

If Romney is the Republican nomination, I am going to register for a third party or become an independent.

i know rdean. keep taxes high and keep companies from growing. Great way to create jobs, right? Your brain is wired backwards.

How about some honesty about taxes? Taxes are at their lowest level in over 60 years; that is a fact. Statutory tax rates are not equal to the effective tax rates, so quit acting like they are and that we are overtaxed. It's pure BS.

Are Taxes in the U.S. High or Low?

Bruce Bartlett has served as an economic adviser in the White House, the Treasury Department and Congress.

Historically, the term “tax rate” has meant the average or effective tax rate — that is, taxes as a share of income. The broadest measure of the tax rate is total federal revenues divided by the gross domestic product.

By this measure, federal taxes are at their lowest level in more than 60 years. The Congressional Budget Office estimated that federal taxes would consume just 14.8 percent of G.D.P. this year. The last year in which revenues were lower was 1950, according to the Office of Management and Budget.

The postwar annual average is about 18.5 percent of G.D.P. Revenues averaged 18.2 percent of G.D.P. during Ronald Reagan’s administration; the lowest percentage during that administration was 17.3 percent of G.D.P. in 1984.

In short, by the broadest measure of the tax rate, the current level is unusually low and has been for some time. Revenues were 14.9 percent of G.D.P. in both 2009 and 2010.

Yet if one listens to Republicans, one would think that taxes have never been higher, that an excessive tax burden is the most important constraint holding back economic growth and that a big tax cut is exactly what the economy needs to get growing again.

Bruce Bartlett: Are Taxes in the U.S. High or Low? - NYTimes.com
Tax cuts are the holy grail of the right, guaranteed to solve all the nations ills. There was probably a time when a tax cut in America sent the worker to the store to spend the tax cut and the wealthy to their broker to invest it. However, today half the country doesn't pay any income taxes so tax cuts just don't have as much impact on the economy as in the past. If you don't pay taxes, tax cuts are meaningless. If rates were higher and everyone paid taxes, then a tax cut would have much more of effect on the economy.

Whats the problem????

Should we funnel MORE money to the entity of government, which was all agree is busted? Which doesn't work? No.

The more money corporations have, the more people they can employ. And vice versa. Why is that such a difficult concept for libtards?

And yes, it's Obama's fault because HE IS IN CHARGE.

That is also bizarre to me, how the left wants so badly to pretend Obama isn't in charge right now. He is. It's his ship. And the ship is off course.

The only two that went down in my standings were Romney and Paul. The rest either improved my impression of them or at least remained stable.

Before the debate, I would have put Paul or Bachmann as my "favorites". Paul lost me completely and I know Avorysuds is not going to like this but it is largely because of his stance on Iran.

Bachmann doesn't have a chance in hell of winning the election. I wonder if it is because she is a woman and the liberals won't vote for a woman or at least a somewhat conservative woman.

I liked Cain's limited responses, but he has as much chance of winning the Republican nomination as Barack Obama does and it is not because of the color of his skin.

All told, I would take either one of these candidates (even Romney and Paul) over President Obama and his failed policies.

Immie

You are allowed to like or dislike whoever. I only get into the debate part with someone when they misrepresent Ron Paul and that happens a lot. Like saying Ron Paul does not care if Iran get nukes... The real question is what are you going to do to stop them? Then after you fail, and you will, what will you do when they get them... start a war with a nation that has nukes??

All of you freaking out about Iran and Paul's stance need to watch this video. I mean it.

Ive been hearing all this support for Ron Paul forever, and every time I see hiim in a debate, Im thinking, "This guy is a brief heartbeat away from full blown dementia!!"

If you keep having to think that then that means you keep being incorrect.

Newt--knows more than anyone in the field--he's definitely an historian- written several books-and after tonight--he doesn't take crap off of anyone.

Newt Gingrich would cut through Barack Obama like a hot knife through butter.
