Political Compass Test - TAKE IT!!!

I know, right? :dunno: -- as I said, bizarre.

I think 2A has discovered this new word "libertarian" and now he's obsessed, declaring everything he touches to be turned to libertarian gold and everyone who's not himself an "authoritarian" --- even when the test here clearly shows a result well south of center. It's a kind of manic blindness swimming in the river of deNial.

Kinda defeats the whole purpose of a test like this... hell his own score put the lie to the fantasy, so he's denying that too, and still he goes on.

Hard to watch.

You're just mad I shredded your favorite thread:

Also, my test shows that I'm a deep Libertarian, I'm not in the center. There are TWO DIMENSIONS of the graph.

I'm half way down the Libertarian axis.

I'm dead center on the LEFT and RIGHT axis, in other words, I'm not extreme. Your placement on the LEFT or RIGHT, even if its dead center, has nothing to do with Libertarian vs Authoritarian.

You are truly inebriated. "Shredded" ?? That was over 900 posts ago.
Apparently you shredded it so bad that nobody noticed.

That's not my "favorite" thread; it's just one that I created. As far as "favorites", this one's more to the point. For my interests anyway.

Luckily for you.

So was the guy you just called "Authoritarian".

Except that he absolutely is. He wants the State of have a Monopoly of Force. That is the ultimate form of Authoritarianism. He lives in a fantasy world, where he believes that his actual Libertarian ideals will flourish otherwise.

So he may have A LOT of Libertarian thoughts and beliefs, but they have no chance of succeeding when the State possesses the Supreme Sovereignty while the people do not: Force.

In other words "I don't care what the evidence in front of my lying eyes says, I know better!"

Apparently you're an idea-Authoritarian. You'll project your own ideas of what other people's ideas are, regardless what they say. How anti-libertarian.
Call me prescient but I'm not surprised.

The questions on this test are different from other similar tests I have taken, but are seriously lacking to give any realistic objective view of one's sociopolitical views. An honest test allows for no opinion or 'other', and forcing the person to choose between four opinions, none of which reflect the person's convictions, will skew the results every single time.

Every time I've taken one of these tests, I usually score somewhere in the lower right quadrant, which is where I belong depending on how one defines those terms, but I really would like a test designed by a competent researcher and that is not obviously designed to provoke a given outcome.

OK, as far as I can see, Hitler is right where he should be.

"Left" is defined as Government control of the economy and means of production.

"Right" is defined as Government control of social and moral matters.

Since Hitler engaged in both, he would be almost a pure Authoritarian.

However, I noticed a few questions that dealt with racism in there.

What does racism have to do with your place on the political world?

As far as I know, racists appear all over the spectrum.

I disagree. Hitler should have been in the upper left corner of the upper left quadrant. "Left" in this country means government control of both the economy AND social and moral matters. "Right" means individual liberty and the ability to form the sort of society the people wish to have free of government interference so long as nobody's unalienable rights are violated.

I'm sorry, but the fact that you said that shows that you don't understand this chart at all.

And also that you have a misunderstanding of the terms "Left" and "Right".

Yes and no.

Hitler allowed for private ownership of business..and provided them with lots of cash and slave labor.

A conservative dream!

While that is true, he formed all corporations into conglomerates, and then handed them out to his cronies, who then became "private owners" of massive cartels.

So, while it wasn't technically Socialism, he was still in de facto control of the means of production.

I think I have a good understanding of the chart as well as the terms 'libertarian' and 'authoritarian'. Do you?

I go with Craig Biddle's definitions:

I don't think too many educated Americans who are astute in American politics and socioeconomics would have much quarrel with this.
