Peter Wehner served 3 GOP admins: Everything Trump touches rots. The worst is yet to come.

in the gospel Jesus states that one cannot serve two masters, yet the Evangelicals that support Trump desire to serve multiple masters.

If these people truly believe the book of faith they claim, then they will understand that they will eventually be burning in Hell for their open & vocal support of such a demonic, Satanic, false prophet.

IMO those that are seriously faithful should never openly endorse, or openly support ANY political candidate. The mixing of religious faith & politics is an invitation to ruin.
I think it's two groups.

One group making a deal with the devil because they truly believe they are doing God's work.

The other group believes they will lead Trump to God.

It's their definition of what God is that is terrifying.

Trump has sinned so much in his life he makes Satan look saintly.
If anyone believes they can lead Trump to God then they have some real serious issues.

I've yet to hear a good word from you about either Bush, or Reagan, (or evangelicals), and yet, you're all hot and bothered about this guy.

You see what I'm saying. You don't post anything of value. Nothing of discussion. You are a stench. A belch. You don't add anything positive, ever. You have somehow fixated on me and follow me around like a dog and constantly try to sniff my butt. But no matter how hard you are kicked, you don't get the message.
You are so sad. And don't even realize it.
As sad as you are on this board, you are probably just as sad where ever you are. How could you be otherwise. A creature of nothing of value. It truly is sad because of the waste.
You sound as though you are describing your posts to a Tee.

The Full-Spectrum Corruption of Donald Trump

an incredible op ed from Peter Wehner. But it's not free.

The Last Temptation

Trump’s background and beliefs could hardly be more incompatible with traditional Christian models of life and leadership. Trump’s past political stances (he once supported the right to partial-birth abortion), his character (he has bragged about sexually assaulting women), and even his language (he introduced the words pussy and shithole into presidential discourse) would more naturally lead religious conservatives toward exorcism than alliance. This is a man who has cruelly publicized his infidelities, made disturbing sexual comments about his elder daughter, and boasted about the size of his penis on the debate stage. His lawyer reportedly arranged a $130,000 payment to a porn star to dissuade her from disclosing an alleged affair. Yet religious conservatives who once blanched at PG-13 public standards now yawn at such NC-17 maneuvers. We are a long way from The Book of Virtues.

According to Jerry Falwell Jr., evangelicals have “found their dream president,” which says something about the current quality of evangelical dreams.

Falwell and Franklin Graham followed Trump’s lead in supporting Judge Roy Moore in the December Senate election in Alabama. These are religious leaders who have spent their entire adult lives bemoaning cultural and moral decay. Yet they publicly backed a candidate who was repeatedly accused of sexual misconduct, including with a 14-year-old girl.

But the timing and emphasis of evangelical responses have contributed to a broad sense that evangelical political engagement is negative, censorious, and oppositional. This funneled focus has also created the damaging impression that Christians are obsessed with sex. Much of the secular public hears from Christians only on issues of sexuality—from contraceptive mandates to gay rights to transgender bathroom usage.

Moreover, in making their case on cultural decay and decline, evangelicals have, in some highly visible cases, chosen the wrong nightmares. Most notable, they made a crucial error in picking evolution as a main point of contention with modernity. “The contest between evolution and Christianity is a duel to the death,” William Jennings Bryan argued. “If evolution wins … Christianity goesnot suddenly, of course, but gradually, for the two cannot stand together.” Many people of his background believed this. But their resistance was futile, for one incontrovertible reason: Evolution is a fact. It is objectively true based on overwhelming evidence. By denying this, evangelicals made their entire view of reality suspect. They were insisting, in effect, that the Christian faith requires a flight from reason.

Evangelicals Are Divided on Trump After Charlottesville

Regardless of when Trump leaves office, regardless of his damage to this country, he will have damaged the Evangelicals even more.

Peter Wehner, who worked for three GOP administrations was raised evangelical. He said Republicans have always stood for ethics, morality and leadership. Remember when Character mattered? Decency, integrity? There is no longer any interest in honor.

After the "magical creation" fight against evolution, many Evangelicals were seen as wacko and hating science. And now that they support such a man and everything he stands for, how are things going to be moving forward for their religion.

I don't think the Evangelicals supporting Trump have figured out how much Trump has hurt their religion in the eyes of the American people. They will forever be tied to supporting what Trump stands for. Defining what Trump stands for will test what Evangelicals say they stand for.

Peter who?

If nothing else, you people give them no choice. They cannot possibly support you.

Ergo ...

They cannot possibly support a party that gives women the right to choose. You can choose to carry your child to term if the idea of abortion offends you.

They cannot possibly support a party that treats gays as equal. Even though Jesus told his followers to treat others the way they would like to be treated.

According to Bible, God gave humans free will to choose their own path. Our choices will determine whether we will ascend into heaven.

Evangelicals want to strip us of our God given free will and force all of us to live according to their beliefs, even though they’re less than 25% of the population. So much for the First Amendment and God given free will.

Consider that 13% of the women seeking abortions identify as evangelicals. Hypocrisy all the way.

in the gospel Jesus states that one cannot serve two masters, yet the Evangelicals that support Trump desire to serve multiple masters.

You are right, there needs to be a strong division between State and Church.

Correct & one only need look to the Taliban for evidence of that very fact.

Trump & the evangelicals would love nothing more than to do the same here, in America.

Trump + GOP + evangelicals = American Taliban.

Americans should have the common sense to understand to keep their religion out of politics & to keep their politics out of religion but too many are too stupid to do so.

This demonstrates that too many Americans are void of any real measure of common sense.

What do you think is going through his mind when he bows his head in pretend prayer?

How he wishes Obama was dead. and also praying for his first billion , since I believe he flew into DC on fumes.

Odd

that's what the First Amendment stated BEFORE they took the Danbury Letter as an edict, instead of a comment in a personal letter.
