It actually started with the election of Reagan. Before that, the right had little to no power and were pretty much not included in the national conversation. All the networks and the majority of democrats paid lip service to equality and snickered at the audacity of conservatives and their permitted talking points.Or..it started with Bush..9/11 and the clever use of the people's anger to sneak in the Patriot Act.Incorrect. It started with the left, long before Trump was elected. Our country is devolving into some real third world bullshit. It all started with Trump and his fucking "lock her up" crap.
In the '80s, the right started fighting back and challenging the narrative. Pretty much, from that point forward, the intolerance of the left has grown along with the hatred of being challenged on their lies and manipulations. The hate has been escalating ever since. All of it on the left until just the past 20 years or so when the right started to grow a spine and fight back.
The problem, like all such escalations, is that both sides are not going too far, and we are already in a civil cold war with each other.
