I just set up my PC with Windows 8 and discovered that my old PowerDVD software wasn't fully functional with Win 8. I purchased PowerDVD Ultra 13 because of its capability to play Blu-Ray disks. I happen to have bought some dvd's that had both regular and Blu-Ray disks so when I inserted the Blu-Ray disk, I was met with the error telling me that there was no disk in the DVD drive. I was under the impression that all I needed was the software and I could play Blu-Ray disks, but I'm getting the stinking suspicion that I must have a Blu-Ray player installed as well. It looks like I'm out the additional money I paid for the ultra version and must buy a blu-ray player if I'm ever going to see high definition video.
