Living in fear is the NRA's mantra.

I don't see the NRA rioting in lunatic fashion...like the AntiTrump Progs are.
Just pushing gun ownership for lunatics.

Please back that up.......that is a lie and you know it....the NRA does not support criminals, felons or the dangerously mentally ill being able to buy, own or carry guns......you can lie about it....but it is still a lie...

On the show 48 hours last night they covered the topic of stalking victims.....and how the police and the court system cannot help them...even from violent, dangerous and oftentimes murderous stalkers......

Pauley Parrette is on the t.v. show NCIS...and has been stalked for 10 years......she has met an formed a group with 3 other women who are also being stalked.....and none of them can get help from the police or the courts....

--One of the women.....dated a man for a few months and he broke the relationship off.....he was gone for several months...then started emailing her with threats of rape, marriage, and death. She was at her home and he barged in and started screaming at her, then left. She got a restraining order.....the paper......she is a lawyer and law professor. He threw two full cans of paint through her window, breaking the cans open with the force and spraying paint all over her son's toys.

When the police arrived...........they accused her of making it up.......

She told them she was a lawyer, knew the law, and that they were obligated by her restraining order to arrest the guy......they gave her a copy of their report..........and did nothing.

Later, the same guy, who was stalking other women was picked up by the Los Angeles police Threat Management Unit....they handle stalkers......they were shocked at the treatment she recieved from the regular police, they put a case together against this guy, arrested him and he went to trial......

He recieved a felony stalking conviction, and recieved......5 years. He was out in two.

She lives in fear every single day of her life. The police cannot help her...she has a 10 year restraining order on him.......

The other woman in the story...her ex boyfriend continues to stalk her...he stays just outside the 100 yard perimeter of the restraining order.....he was also arrested and recieved a felony conviction for stalking......a 5 year probation sentence...........

So.....the other case was the singer from the Voice....she was shot in the head by her stalker leaving one of her concerts.......

Stalked: Part 2

Each of these women lives in fear every day of their lives...they have had to hide...changing their homes, their habits, living in self made prisons for the fear of nut jobs killing them.....

And the police....tell them over and over till the guys actually harm them, they can't help them.....

This is the question anti-gunners have to answer......should these women be allowed to carry a gun for self defense against these highly dangerous men...who have made specific threats of rape and death?

Keep in mind...the typical anti gun answer...if there were no guns in existence this wouldn't be a problem.....is a crap answer....here in Illinois a woman was murdered by her stalking husband with a 10 dollar Walmart camping axe....another girl on another 48 hour show was stabbed 70 times with a kitchen knife and in the same episode a woman had been doused with gasoline and set on fire....

So anti gunners...please tell us...and these women...that their Right to self defense is antiquated, and unnecessary.....and that the 2nd Amendment doesn't protect guns......since all guns at some point were used by the military, and therefore unusable by civilians......
Gee, I'm sorry but who the fuck is saying people can not conceal carry with the roper permits & training?

And how would carrying a gun stop that person from being shot in the head?

California is saying they can't carry....

California, Los Angeles County, Sued Over Their Laws and Policies on Carrying Guns

The legal and factual background, from the suit:

California...bars ordinary, law-abiding citizens from carrying a firearm for self-defense, regardless of whether the firearm is loaded or unloaded and regardless of whether the firearm is carried in an exposed or concealed manner, in all but extremely limited, remote areas—unless the individual has a license to carry a firearm ("Carry License") issued by the local sheriff or chief of police....

In populous counties like Los Angeles, state law only authorizes the issuance of concealed Carry Licenses, thus completely barring residents of Los Angeles County from openly carrying a firearm for self-defense.

California law affords sheriffs and police chiefs unfettered discretion to determine whether to issue a Carry License to law-abiding citizens seeking to exercise their fundamental rights to bear arms. Defendant [L.A. County Sheriff] McDonnell uses this authority to deny Carry Licenses to nearly all law-abiding adults by denying their applications or, in many cases, informing potential applicants that applying would be futile because they would not satisfy his restrictive "good cause" policy [which] requires that an applicant provide "convincing evidence of a clear and present danger" against the applicant or a family member.

Accordingly, the vast majority of the population cannot satisfy this discretionary standard, and therefore cannot obtain a license to publicly carry a firearm.

The suit points out that a recent federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals case, Peruta, upheld restrictions similar to Los Angeles' in San Diego County. In that case the court, ignoring the Heller and McDonald cases that established a core self-defense right inherent in the Second Amendment (but which did not, alas, directly address how it applies outside the home), "held only that the carrying of concealed firearms was not historically protected by the Second Amendment, while leaving for another day the question of whether the Second Amendment protects the carrying of firearms openly."

This new suit picks up the challenge Peruta laid down:

In light of that ruling, Plaintiffs ask this Court to hold those provisions of California law that prohibit them from openly carrying firearms unconstitutional. Plaintiffs nevertheless also challenge Defendants' restrictions that bar them from obtaining concealed Carry Licenses....

The plaintiffs, represented by gun-rights lawyer C.D. Michel:

seek declaratory relief confirming that (1) the Second Amendment protects the right to carry a firearm for self-defense in public and (2) Defendants' total denial of the exercise of that right violates the Second Amendment....Plaintiffs also seek a declaration that California laws prohibiting the open carriage of firearms violate the Second Amendment, or, alternatively, that Defendants' laws and policies that preclude law-abiding citizens from carrying a concealed firearm for self-defense are unconstitutional.

Are these women complaining that they aren't allowed to have a firearm, or are you just deciding for them that they should be armed?

They are pushing for the usual....a registry of stalkers at the federal level...does nothing to keep them safe. Better police training...does nothing to keep them safe.....and longer prison sentences for stalking...which actually works...until the guy gets out of the prison...unless you lock them up for life...they will get out...or they get probation like the one guy did....

One of the other cases involved a guy who is clearly, mentally ill....he stalked one of the women on the show, and was arrested and put in Bellevue for stalking Ivanka Trump....he is out now, wandering around and the former Psychiatrist for the Los Angeles police, Threat Management Unit said the guy is dangerous and needs to be dealt with....

So......none of the solutions they are pushing for, in their P.C. world view will keep them safe if the nut jobs decide to murder them...Pauley is rich, so she probably has Gavin DeBecker, security agent to the stars, protecting her...the other women....live almost like prisoners....afraid to go outside.
I was stalked once, I know how creepy it can be. Fortunately, I moved several towns away before he had worked himself up enough to hurt me--although there was a close call. It never occurred to me to buy a gun. It's true the police don't do shit. He was clearly obsessed, living in an alternate reality and mentally ill.
The issue isn't with guns, it is with mental health intervention, treatment and laws that actually get these folks put away before they harm someone. Right now the law and the public are pretty much helpless against the criminally insane. Do you think the guys put away for five years got mental health services while they were incarcerated? That they are on supervised release with provisions to remain under the vigilance of a mental health professional? Probably not. So the cycle continues.

Okay, Oldlady.....knowing the situation.....what do you suggest these women do? Please.....explain your plan to keep them safe.

Moving worked for me. Or body guards, like you said. And I seriously mean it when I say the laws to deal with stalkers should be improved. I don't know how much "changing" a stalker will do, but I agree with you 100% that a piece of paper is not going to stop them. They get plenty of chances to terrorize you before they are even "warned" by the police and you can actually take it to court for an order, anyway.

It stopped mine. But I'm not famous. I already answered that question, with more than just "moving." Laws need to change to be more proactive. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know how exactly. You had to ignore that part of my post because it doesn't fit with your argument?

Do you have any other ideas on how to stop the stalker from murdering these women?
It stopped mine. But I'm not famous. I already answered that question, with more than just "moving." Laws need to change to be more proactive. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know how exactly. You had to ignore that part of my post because it doesn't fit with your argument?

Okay...from the story...the one guy was caught vandalizing the homes of his victims and was put in for 5 years...he was out in two......unless you plan on keeping them locked up for life...that is all you have?

Do the things you suggested make them safer?

And so? What should these women do? You can say these stalkers need mental health work.....but are they ever going to get it? Are they going to change from being stalkers?

Okay, Oldlady.....knowing the situation.....what do you suggest these women do? Please.....explain your plan to keep them safe.
Moving worked for me. Or body guards, like you said. And I seriously mean it when I say the laws to deal with stalkers should be improved. I don't know how much "changing" a stalker will do, but I agree with you 100% that a piece of paper is not going to stop them. They get plenty of chances to terrorize you before they are even "warned" by the police and you can actually take it to court for an order, anyway.

So....moving....that is your answer? The stalker will just confine themselves to the old location?

So...the police can't stop the stalker.

The courts can't stop the stalker.

The restraining order won't stop the stalker.

I'm not a psychologist, so I don't know what drives these loons, but one would think a little reality adjustment might be in order? It seems to have worked with Hinckley, amirite? If it takes 25 or 30 years, so be it. These people are not safe to be roaming our streets. If they're obsessed about some stranger or a woman they only met or dated a couple times, they've probably got other very weird stuff going on as well. It seems like more of a mental health issue, and we are absolutely terrible at dealing with the criminally insane, for some reason. They have more rights than the would-be victims.

And still...nothing to help these women.....

They are in L.A. a difficult place for normal, law abiding women under threat of violent death to get permission to exercise their Right of self defense....
